PT&G Blueprinted Rem. Action

I'm building a rifle for F/TR. Who has bought one, what is your opinion.

I'm looking at a SS single shot short action in .223. The details of the work done in the process sound good, but I have no experience with blueprinted actions or PT&G.

They're not bad, I have bought a couple and put pre-fit on them. The leading edges of the bolt lugs needed a little stoning and the bolt raceways needed the bolt run back and forth a good bit.
All in all when I bought them for 400 bucks or less, they were a great buy and plenty accurate for highpower. I think a lot of the people here will to tell you to drop the addition 300 bucks on a semi custom like a kelbly or defiance.

I certainly don't want to inaccurately put someone down but be prepared to be patient if you decide to work with PTG. I have usually been happy with the product but I couldn't tell you how many times I was promised to be called back by the end of the day to sort out problems with my order or with billing and was never called back. I have rarely had an order that didn't have some hitch.

Wondering how long it takes them to respond to emails, or do they ever? Inquired Monday on some stuff that’s not to important but would like to know. Not sure I want to talk to them on the phone if you know what I mean.

PTG and I get along quite well when I order something off the rack. Any time you ask them to change something, expect problems.

I don't know their price on their "blueprinted" actions but I think mostly all they do is put a ptg bolt in it, make sure the lugs contact evenly, and make sure the face is square--which is all a remington really needs.

I use PTG bolts in all my Remingtons. Good extraction timing and overall a very nice upgrade. If you're looking to save money over a custom, this is a pretty good option.

Make sure you order the small diameter firing pin.

Well I took a chance!
I ordered one Rem. Short Action Single Shot SS .
It came in fast . Good work in the Blue Printing . Some could find wrong with it ?
My Barrel Guy said Good Action love your Bolt !
At the dealer price it is one good deal .

I have another one done by a Well Known Gun Smith using the Rem. Standard Bolt and Blue Printed . Cost more took longer ,works well .
Good Luck

Still waiting for parts that were supposedly in stock/shipped on December 23rd , nobody at PTG wants to admit that they are lost,
When I suggested sending another part and I'd return the extras if it showed up they said they'ed have to charge me 15% on anything I returned.
They were my "go to" for years, now Manson does all my reamers.
Having an intelligent conversation with anyone there but Dave is impossible , its like kids are answering the phone and processing orders.
The place will fold like a taco when Dave shuffles off his mortal coil.
