This is a subject I talked about eons ago in the other talking heads Forum. I think the future of materials used for BR work will move away from metal into Ceramic Engineering. Actions and barrels will be developed that will be stronger resist wear and lighter than the stainless we use today. Heat retention in barrels will be a thing of the past as ceramic not being a metal does not maintain heat. Barrel erosion will be at a minimum. Today's tool bits will have to be swapped out as industrial strength ceramic needs a different set-up. Not going to happen today but the technology is there if and when the demand surfaces.
For stocks use ceramics would start a new phase of designers, computer design in 3D is there now. The next generation of young bloods will create the cyber BR that only some of us can dream of. How about 2000yd shooting with a 22 PPC into 1/4 inch groups. Slip through ceramic bullets that use the wind as a propellant. To me wind is like gunpowder as it has an electrical charge that can increase acceleration and final velocity. Lots of Physics in our game we just need to understand concepts better.
