too good to be true? throat "rejuvenating"

burnt barrel is burnt barrel. Stainless breaks, CM cracks. Cracked is smoother, doesn't lose chunks of material. Think pothole versus expansion crack in road. Hole grabs a bullet. Stainless not always the perfect solution

What have you studied about ceramics? At what temp does it need to be applied.
I think snake oil would be lesser expensive!

yes indeed, i would try snake oil if it reduced my cleaning time...i love to shoot but i do not enjoy cleaning a barrel. the original formula reduced my cleaning time, the latest is not as good.

Several years ago I applied it to a very woren 22-250. Well wore out is wore out and metal can.t be replaced. I also at that time applied it to my 22-250AI that was fairly new and was a 1/4 inch rifle. After the bore coat application it was then an 1 1/4 inch gun. A trip across the crony showed I had lost aprox 150 fps with what \i would think was now a smoother bore. Bumping up the powder chargep until I got back the original speed then brought accuaracy back but not to the original. I only use it now to coat the first 1 inch of my throats on new guns, and re-coat every 1000 rds. My tests so far(very limited) seem to indicate that it does slow the throat wear down cosiderably.

a long term followup: i spoke with mr burch yesterday re the failure of the dyna tek bore coating. he told me the formula change was a mistake...done to reduce cost. the product is now the older formula, so i will give it a try. my guns coated with the original still clean with minimal effort while my newer guns still require a bronze brushing to get out the baked on carbon. we shall see.

Where do you get the stuff? I shoot cast lead in my revolver and maybe this is the ticket.

Lprd, I tried it I a factory 243 and it did nothing. Do you think it would do any good to call the owner and see if I got the changed formula and possible if he would exchange it for the good stuff he is now selling again and what I thought I was getting.

brownell's has the product in stock...#100-006-145 Dyna-Bore Coat Kit at $44.99. i can only hope the current product is the old formula. when i spoke with mr burch he assured i was getting the "old" formula. the test will be to soak a patch and let it dry. the patch becomes stiff whereas the "improved" formula left the patch as soft as if not used. this mr burch is a nice person and listened to me as i described my experience. you can certainly call him and relate your problem...his direct number is 1-816-444-1255, ext 110.

The first shot fliers? Are they every first shot from a cold bore? Or are they simply the first shot after the initial application?

I want to do a couple hunting rifles, where first shot fliers make them into good tomatoe stakes.

Can you post pictures of your targets as a before and after treatment with the cold bore Flyer on your next few rifles listing the details ?
