Coating a Defiance bolt

I have a defiance bolt that I want to coat in something not sure what to use I was thinking of duracoat, creakote that ceramic spray ?? not sure how involved that is or if it will work and not sure what prep work you have to do either. any help would be greatly appricieated thanks ahead of time

First thing to know is what is the hardness (Rockwell C or Vickers) of your bolt. Coating process giving less hardness is useless.
Second thing is the friction coefficient of the intended coating. If this coeff is less than the one of bare steel, it is also useless.

To improve the surface hardness and friction coefficient, the PVD coating is the answer. DLC/Tribobond might be the choice. DLC=Diamond Like Coating, hardness in the area of 2500 Vickers and friction coefficient of 0,1
