Centering front sight

I just got back from the range where I was attempting to center my front sight to match the rear sight's mechanical zero.

Very exhausting.

Some time ago someone was making a clamp on dial indicator rig for this job.

Anyone know where to get one?

Go to the following web site and look at the Satern Front Sight Tool

Kent,

Why not go the other way, fix your frontsight absolutely vertical and zero your rearsight from this?.

If the rearsigt is fixd on an offset side bracket and the zero not near the middle of horizontal travel, then, the side bracket need to be either trimmed or shimmed....or use a rearsight with a centre Anschutz dovetail or Weaver/Picatiny rail...The mechanical zero will be perfect...

Best consistent results will be on tis condition of sights perfectly centered.

I'm using a Centra weaver style rear sight on a R5 kit with a fixed scope rail.
I doubt that I would be inclined to shim a rear sight base when turning the front sight toward the bullet strike will get it zeroed.

Kent,

It happens that I now quite well the Centra sight. You cannot make a better choice...

Read my message. I was mentioning the possibility of an offset rearsight in the case of a side mounting bracket systm.

When its a Weaver top mount rail, the rearsight zero windage is automatically centered. The system was designed for this.

I can only repeat that, if the foresight is vertical, zeroing would be minor adjustments of the scale that the Easy Zero system of your sight is intended for as well..
