I would like to see different the types of tuners you guys are using hopefully pics included. How well do ya think they are working for you. I have a TSI Bucky tuner from Bruno's on the way for a 6ppc Viper build I have underway
Thanks
Tim

I use a tuner by Erik Cortina on a 34" .300 WSM. I think it is working pretty well.

I have 5-6 different types of tuners including a converted rimfire Fudd tuner, Beggs, Borden, Shadetree and a few made by individuals. All work basically the same way and they all work as they are supposed to. To me the difference is in ease of adjustment. My preference is the Borden style. I doubt I will ever compete in anything other than Factory Class with a rifle that doesn't have a tuner. If you want to PM me your phone # I can send pics to it.

That's nice and unobtrusive. The one thing that I hate about a lot of tuners is the bulk on the end of the barrel.

That's why Erik developed it. He was unwilling to put a big, ugly lump on the end of his barrel and add any weight. His tuner has enough mass to affect our long barrels due to their relative flexibility. It locks in place with two opposed, nylon-tipped set screws. I shot through the F-Class Nationals and Worlds, then shot a Mid Range Regional, and it didn't move.

Steve,
I'm just curious, I understand and know how these tuners work... But with your style, not adding any weight, is it sensitive to each hash mark or are you finding it needs to be moved forward quite a bit before the results are noticed?

It's very sensitive. When tuning, I move two marks (25 per rotation) per group. If it seems that two settings are possibly bracketing the ideal, I'll try the one between. My two barrels have not needed a full turn to tune.

how sensitive do you think it would be on a shorter barrel? like a 25 to 28 inch 1.25 straight.

It is very likely the stiffer the barrel, the more mass would be required to affect it. BR barrels that are HV contour and 22" long are very stiff. They need more mass and/or more movement to change the harmonics enough to make a difference. Barrels used in F-Class and long range BR are relatively flexible and don't need as much mass. I am sure that it would still work, but might require more movement.

Do you just need to know barrel diameter at a certain distance back from muzzle?
To match profile

All tuners are 1.250" diameter. As long as you have .860" or more 1.5" back from muzzle you'll be fine.
