CCI 250 Vs Federal 215M

I did an experiment the other day. Same powder charge and bullet. 89G of H-1000, Hornady 208 Eld bullets stuffed in some Norma cases. The only difference was the primer. CCI 250 and Federeal 215M primers. Basically the same group other than just a slight shift in POI. And the exact same velocity. Kinda blew my mind. Figured there would be more of a change.

At what distance?

Of interest:

https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1102/1102.1644.pdf

This link, on page 2, shows blast wave (psi) of the Fed 215 (552.7 psi) compared with the CCI 250 (552.3 psi) as seen the 215 has only 6% more blast pressure than the 250.

I would expect that not much difference might be seen in actual performance under normal conditions.

I use CCI 250's for my .300 WM & .375-.338. If it going to be real cold (under 20 F), I will use 250's in anything that uses more than 45 grains of ball powder

They appear to have similar burn.

If you stretch them out to around 300 yards they may show different tendencies.

Just shows you have to test. Looks like you have good enough equipment to actually test so thats good. Your next box of bullets or next jug of powder may show different results
