Case Sepraration, stuck in chamber

I had a case separation this morning and I can't get the piece out of the chamber. Tried a bronze brush from the breech end, that usually works, but didn't this morning. Tried bronze brush from muzzle, didn't work.

Any ideas????

Bill,
I have used a fired case and push it into the stuck case with the bolt. Sometimes this works. If this doesn't work then look for a broken case extractor in that cal.

I have a rat tail file that is broken off so it will not go into the rifeling in a 22 cal rifle. Just thread it in and pull it out.

Thanks guys!

I found a tap in my stuff that was just right, started it into the case with my fingers and it turned right out. Sure don't understand why the bronze brush thing didn't work. Now I've got to figure out what caused it. I've measured everything and am beginning to think it was an anomaly. It's an Encore so there is no cramming action, in fact I like to bump the shoulder back .001 so it won't hang up on the breech face and cause stringing. None of my cases show any sign of stress.

I believe I'll get some Cerro Safe, just in case. I'me not to interested in threading a custom chamber.

Thanks again.

Bill

Get yourself a "broken case extractor" for every caliber you shoot. Keep them in your range bag. Save yourself from a "bad day at the range"! One broken case and it's paid for itself! ;)
Kinda like running out of toilet paper.
