Case lube spray

I've had the same bottle of RCBS case lube for years. I've used the pad and also put it on my hands and rolled handfuls of brass to lube for resizing. Never had a stuck case. I still have half a bottle left.

To do something different I poured the half bottle into 16 ounces of 91% alcohol, sprayed some brass, left it for a bit and started sizing .223 brass. I'm sure this will speed up this part of the reloading process. I'm gonna use a plastic shoe box, some of the rifle brass sits up to where enough spray gets into the necks, a little shaking and ready to go.

I figure the 16 ounces are gonna last me quite a while. Anywho couldn't get to sleep so I'm putting this out, thanks for looking.

I used that stuff when I first started reloading over 45 years ago. When Hornady One Shot came out, I've used it exclusively. Less messy and doesn't contaminate powder or primers if it comes in contact with it like those oil bases lubes. Just wipe it off with a paper towel or cloth, it's a no brainer not to use it. I've converted a few old timers with even more experience than I have to change and they absolutely love the stuff. But no matter what I've used I've never once had a case stuck in a die. Just lucky I guess.

If you dont shake up hornady 1 shot spray before you use it you will stick cases in the die. Just experience talking. I like imperial better still though..
 
Only stuck case (458 Lott) I've ever had was when I used One Shot. Granted, I did not use it as per instructions (it has to dry first), but I have since moved on to using baby oil (mineral oil) for basically all my lube requirements, except for inside neck lube when seating bullets - for this I now use Redding's dry lube (graphite powder).
 
I use 1 shot, shake can well, with brass in zip lock bag, spray close bag shake. Dump brass into a small flat made from a small USPS box. Let dry, full length size NO decapper/expander(22 cal and larger). I universal decap and wash/dry before sizing. 17 & 20 cal I stand-up 1 shot lube in the mentioned flat. I have reduced the expander dia on those. All the brass after sizing is mandrel expanded for proper neck tension. No issues with brass seizing in die, I do not shoot competition or over 400 yard target(range limitations). 3-5 second dwell at top of sizing stroke. I clean die and spray with 1 shot before use.

No waste at all the way I do it. I use latex gloves and hold each case with my fingers and just dribble it over each case with the red extension tube that comes with it. You can control just how much you want to come out of the nozzle with a little practice and you don't have to let it dry for it to work. It will work without sticking right away. I've tried Imperial wax and it's ok. Just like the One Shot better.

That's cool. But the marketing is all about it being "One Shot" ...a quick spray, less mess, not having to handle each case individually. If ya use One Shot the way its marketed.... you WILL get stuck cases. And waste alot. Yer smart to use it the way you do, NOT the way its marketed.

Might as well just spray one shot on a case lube pad and roll the cases. :)

What's in a name? What about Frog lube? Does that mean it was intended to spray on a frog in your yard? LOL! I wouldn't waste my time putting cases on a lube pad because as soon as I coat the case, I run it thru the sizing die in front of me. I've been shooting competitive Short range score for 7 seasons now and I just have this routine that works for me. Like I said before, I've been hand loading since I was 14 and now I'm almost 62 and haven't had one case stuck in a sizing die. In fact when I'm sizing my cases, mostly 30BR, and 30x47, every 5th case I can run it thru the sizing die without no lube on it.

Rolling cases on a case lube pad, I've never got a stuck case....everything from straight wall cases 9mm - 45-70, to bottlenek cases .223 to 338 Norma.

If you use per the instructions, you WILL NOT get stuck cases.

I'm a pretty big One Shot user.. but Someone much smarter than me pointed out the warnings on the label. Basically don't breath or touch the stuff.

I really like how consistent I can get OS on the cases.. using imperial, I get too much or too little causing more variance in my sizing than I like.

Im going to experiment with some refillable aerosol cans and using home brew lanolin/alcohol lube. Just to see if I can avoid the nasty stuff in One Shot. Breathing alcohol has to be better than OS.. right? o_O:D
 
I've been "rollin' my own" for about 40 years, doesn't make me an expert, but in those years I've stuck only one case. It was from using the Hornady One Shot spray. Since I went to Imperial Lube Wax, I've experienced absolutely no problems in this regard.
