Case lube on neck?

I just learned from reading the forum that your not supposed to lube the shoulders on the case when resizing and someone mentioned not lubing the neck either. Is that true even if not using a carbide neck bushing?
When minimally resizing f/l or shoulder bump/neck die what is the consensus for what areas to lube?

I F/L size each and every time I resize ensuring there is lube on the body by rolling the case on a pad. This skips the shoulder and neck. Since I use carbide bushings, I never have to lube the neck.

For about $10 more per bushing, I feel for me, that it's worth the extra cost, for a lifetime of NEVER having to lube a neck. When I used a non carbide bushing, steel or coated, years ago, I lubed every third neck.

In the competitive arena that I shoot in, I would never ever consider minimally resizing, separately shoulder bumping or separately neck sizing.

I only F/L size with bushings each and every time I resize.

I throw away the expander mentioned below. It totally defeats the purpose of bushing use.

I use a full-length bushing die with expander and always lube the neck (inside and out), shoulder and body with Imperial Die Wax. It makes sizing more consistent and greatly reduces the effort required.

With common off the shelf FL dies no lube is needed nor recomended on the shoulders or outside the neck.
Brushing some lube inside the neck or dipping the the neck in a dry graphite lube is recomended to ease stretching of the neck that can happen from the resize button on the rod.

Too much lube or wax on the shoulders/neck can cause "dent's" from hydrolic/material build-up.

There are many-many techniques with several styles of dies and custom chambers. For the above advise I refer too standard dies and factory rifle chambers.

I use imperial Dry Neck Lube from Redding when neck sizing. Weather its a bushing die or a normal neck seizer.

You can use it inside and outside the case neck to reduce drag on the die and the sizing button, if the die has one.

And it won’t contaminate powder or cause problems when filling cases with power. Eg power sticking on the inside of the case neck.

I only recently started lubing the necks. The reason is because I was getting case neck runout without it. I started lubing the necks, and cut the runout in half... literally. As noted above, Imperial Dry Neck Lube works pretty well.

even when just neck sizing i use lube on the neck . There is a huge difference in the amount of friction, and case stretching without it. Meaure a couple of cases both ways, and you'll see a difference.

Yes sir... that's how I learned! (Using a wilson-style neck die). No lube on the neck = excessive runout.

When I neck size only, I lube the neck. Even with bushing dies. A quick touch of imperial wax and wipe on the neck quick. Makes a big difference.

When FL sizing or "bumping the shoulder back, I will lube (once again I use Imperial) from the top portion of the case/below the shoulder down to the case head.

I always lube the insdie of the neck, then remove excess lube from the outside, when FL sizing.
