case lube...never too old to learn

Yes I understand that it worked fine as you said. If I remember correctly though it seems like a little squealing going on during sizing and it was a pain to get off the cases. I just meant newer products have been a huge upgrade from that time.
Sure you’re correct. I’m dead slow to change anything that works. Consequently after lubing and sizing my brass it goes into a vibratory tumbler.
I still de-prime my brass first and use a punch and a hammer. Gives me another opportunity to look at the brass and I guess as you might surmise I’m never in a hurry. My only concern has ever been the size of my groups. Therefore even though I have lots to reload I’m basically pleasantly stuck with two 30br’s and my first true benchrest rifle in 222.
Never even tried a PPC s I guess I’m quite pleased with the results I have obtained.

Alcohol is the carrier, not the lube, which is why you have to let it flash off. I find the alcohol/lanolin to be the best and most consistent for larger volumes. I wet tumble after sizing so no problem removing it.
Agree, faster methods than rolling on a pad, but I reload about 100 cases a month and I don't mind spending the time. Looks like most of us find something that works for us and we stick with it.

I tried the heat during the pandemic and could not find alcohol anywhere.
Make sure you use the red bottle heat and NOT the yellow one.
I tried the 10/1 ration and ended up adding more alcohol to make it 12/1 and felt it was better
What made you think the 12:1 mix was better than the 10:1 mix?

Felt like there was too much lanolin. Too tacky feeling.
I stuck cases several times with one shot and switched to this instead.
Maybe I didn’t put enough time shot but happened several times and have yet to stick a case with this home made brew.
I do run it through my tumbler to clean off the lanolin after sizing trimming etc

I use coconut oil sold in the grocery stores, rub a little on and it works great and wipes off cleanly.
I do the same. Refined coconut oil and 99% Isopropyl alcohol in a 50:50 mix. Doesn't gum up on the cases, I've never had a dented shoulder since doing this, application is a breeze and it doesn't tarnish the cases over time. I also found it works way better than tapping oil, and almost as well as tap-free when I'm hand tapping for small machine screws (3/8-16 down to 2mmx0.4)

I’ve tried just about every lube on the market as well as the lanolin mix, and what I use now is 1 ½ oz of Hornady LIQUID one shot (not the wasteful aerosol) mixed with 12 oz of red Iso-Heet. The liquid does not affect primers or powder, no post-lube cleaning required. Just a couple sprays in a ziplock bag, shake, let the alcohol evaporate for 15 minutes, and reload. Leaves a nice slick (NOT sticky) coating on the brass that stays for weeks stored in another ziplock. How I came about this is another story….but this mix really works great.
