case length after fire forming 6mm dasher

What case length do you end up with after fire forming Lapua 6mm BR brass in the 6MM dasher chamber ?

Is the case length the same for both method of fire forming, using bullets or the Cream of Wheat method?

Can't comment on either FF or COW to form Dasher brass, but this past weekend I used a Hornady Hydro Form Die and did 250 cases and the average case length for new BLUE BOX is right about 1.540-1.542" New older PAPER BOX was 1.544-1.546" I would be interested in seeing how this compares to other methods.

I have fireformed with both methods and the COW was not as uniform or consistent and was a tad average shorter at around 1.540-1.542. Plus not to mention the cases are not quite formed all the way. Then i used bullets in cases that were neck turned to the proper length/depth for a Dasher case being used as the false shoulder, and they were around 1.545-1.546. Both methods in the same new rifle. From now on will cut the necks to proper depth, load and shoot.

If your chamber length is 1.570 how can ff.brass 1.545 be used ? You are.010 - .015 short of trim length..........jim

My reamer has a 1.5501.555" case length. I FF with a hard .030" jam and 30.5gr of Varget. After three firings they are 1.540". A little short, and I do watch for a carbon ring, but it's N.B.D.
Still does .1s and .2s.

1.550 chamber length or case length? You would have to trim before you fire form,brass length runs around 1.555. You don't even need to jam a bullet, the case would be at the end of the chamber.................jim

I use the false shoulder method. Just did 200 blue box and end up at 1.540-1.542. After one more firing I end up at 1.542-1.543.

You can learn to control the length by the load and how you do it. I trim after i FF. to 1.550 for a 1.560 chamber length that is 1.565 on the comparator ......jim
