does any one have information on reliable services and guides for caribou hunts?
I was thinking AlaskaIn Canada or Alaska? WD
I was thinking Alaska
Thanks, that's what I needed to know.Several of us got together and hunted in Quebec about 15 years ago. By far and long the best big game hunt I've ever been on. Everything was as good or better than advertised by the outfitter, guides included. We spent a full year checking references on outfitters and went with Club Chambeaux. Hulme would be a good one too I'd guess. From what I am reading now there is in fact a dispute on hunting them in places in Canada for the foreseeable future.
I'm sure there are some good outfitters in Alaska too, it'll just take time to check them out. Pay very close attention to their equipment and claims in brochures, and DEFINATELY check a lot of personal references. If you can pull it together..... GO!! We had a fantastic time caribou hunting and the meat was terrific. WD
You want to find a guide who is engaged, someone who knows whatever herd of Caribou you choose to hunt well.
DIY hunts in Alaska can be very successful, they can also be miserable and very disappointing..
I didn't know there was such a thing as woodland caribou. I'm pretty new to hunting northern "big game". Mostly white tail and antelope in the past. I definitely want a dependable guide the first time.OP,
Are you looking to hunt woodland or barren ground "bou?
