Canada gunsmiths, barrels, etc

I have a good friend who recently got into reloading, he’s been hunting all his life but reloading is new. Now he’s wanting to build a custom rifle. He moved back to Nova Scotia, where he grew up, a little over a year ago and I’m very little help. Apparently importing a custom rifle is a pain, buying components from the usual sources here in the states doesn’t work either. Anybody been down this road?

Looking for good custom rifle builders in Canada and places to buy components for the build, barrel, stocks, bottom metal, etc etc

Any help appreciated. He’s got the bug, he started reloading a couple years ago which led to wanting to do a build. I’m trying to fuel the flames.

Alberta tactical rifle supply is good, mystic Precision in BC is good. There is JC custom barrels out of bew Brunswick. I'd try the first two I mentioned. Full service shops that do it all. I have had good experiences with Mystic.

Id call hirsch precision and ask them who is the go to guy in NS. There are a couple in halifax- not sure where he moved to.

There’s tons of good gun smiths.
- go ballistic gun smithing, Dennis lair (I personally use)
- em precision, Shane and Steve both good guys and great smith. There rifles hammer
- insite arms, Andy and Harley have done a build for me that shoots lights out.
- reddknob, Paul has a great reputation.

For components.

- insite and em precision both carry a limited supply of actions.
- go big tactical and big horn sales both carry a fairly large amount of products
- ibi barrels and ks arms both make killer tubes that shoot amazing. I switched from benchmark and bartlein to ks and ibi (just depending on what build) they also both sell actions. ks arms has there own, and Ibi is sisters with ultimatum actions.
- trigger tech is Canadian and can buy direct

Personally I’d give Mike at ks or Ryan at ibi a call in regards to barrels and actions. If you have something particular in mind go through one of the others and pick up a ks or ibi tube to accompany the build. Give Dennis at go ballistic or Shane at em precision a ring and they will walk you through the build.
