Can you use 100gr 30 cal. half-jacket bullletsin anything besides the .30 carbine?

Has anyone reloaded and shot 30 cal. 100 gr. half-jackets in anything other than the 30 carbine. I would like to use these in reduced velocity loads in a 30-06 1903 Springfield. Possible or problems ? Thanks!

A mentor of mine was using them and the 110 gr. roundnose in his early 1st generation Ruger American with great results. I'm not sure of the exact load but he was using IMR 3031.

I've used them for plinking loads in my 30-30 over the years.

Shot quite a few chucks with them in a 300 Savage. I was running an easy
low book 2600 fps with 748.

I used them in my old 30 carbine Blackhawk revolver for the most part. BUT -- I did load a bunch one time for my buddy to shoot in his 30-06 for rabbit and plinking loads. It's been 40 or 50 years, and I remember Red Dot powder, but the weight eludes me. I'm thinking 4 or 5 grains. jd

Years back I put some through a 30-06 using H110… and even a case load of surplus 4831 though an awful lot of 4831 just went unburnt out the barrel but What the Heck !! it was 50 cents a pound…
Sierra 30 cal 110gr hollow points in an ‘06 with a max load of 4895 were absolutely explosive!

The Speer manual warns about using the pistol half jackets at reduced loads. The core leaving the jacket! Not sure if this is a problem with 30-06 or 30-30 with the 100 grain plinkers. I have used 125gr. with H4895 reduced loads. See the hogdon paper on reduced loads.

I have a hard time with this one. At what point in time do the inertial moments of the core and the jacket become sufficiently different to result in separation? They cannot accelerate at different rates with pressure behind the bullet mass.
