Can you recommend a scope level?

Looking to buy a few scope levels to attach to various scopes I have... they indicate if I am canting the scope/gun which can push bullet off target at longer ranges. Would like to spend enough to get a good product but not spend alot of money. Brownells has a few and I am guessing others due too. They will be mounted on Burris C4 scopes in 30 mm and 1" tubes.

Thank you.

:)

seeking_coyotes: I recently bought one from Sinclair & am very pleased with it. # 749-004-540SE, shown on page 205 in their 2013-B catalog, $31.99. Offset to the left, I have it mounted in front of the eyepiece & it's easy to see without moving my head. Metal, not plastic, typical Sinclair quality.

Will include another one with my next order to Sinclair.

This is what I do and it works perfectly. I have a picatinney rail on every one of my rifles. I buy "U.S. Optics Anti Cant Device" (it contains a bubble level in it) that has a hinge on it. I mount it to the RIGHT side of my rifle ( I am left handed). Once on the rifle, I mount the scope. With the "Anti Cant Device" I get the rifle itself LEVEL. Then I mount the scope and use a regular level to get the scope level. Now BOTH the rifle AND the scope are level. At matches I simply swivel out the anti cant device and level out the rifle on my front rest and "keep a constant eye" on the level in the anti cant device. I have ZERO problems going from a 300 yard zero to 1000 yards and my shots are within a click (NOT MOA) a CLICK or three of being right in the "X" ring! Obviously if you are right handed, you mount the Anti Cant device on the left side of the rail and swivel it out when you shoot!

I'm a fan of the holland scope levels. Nicely made, I have a half dozen or so, and have never had a problem.

I you're going to be shooting at long-enough range where reticle cant might be an issue, then IMO you should be way more concerned with factors that are far more problematic at distance: bullet drop and wind. A canted level is the least of your worries. Gadgets are fine, but never once have I felt that a scope level was handy except when mounting the scope. And it's just one more thing to take into account, i.e. another distraction from reading wind conditions, sight picture, trigger break, breathing, etc. -- all of which are more important IMO. And if you're engaging moving targets, then forget it. 8)

Check out accuracy 1st. Their levels are graduated and have a floating ball vs the bubble found in most levels. Very easy to see.

+1 On the 21st Century. It naturally illuminated, thinner and a tad lighter. Here are the links: http://www.21stcenturyshooting.com/30mm_Scope_Level_2.php

David might have gotten a bad bunch (I do not doubt what he says, he is a good guy)...

But, I have 11 or 12 of the B-Square levels, and they have been excellent.

Love these...

Best way to level the scope (then level the level)... (IMNSHO) is a heavy dark line about 50 yards away from the rifle which is suspended from any convienent hanging place with a 1 -3 oz weight at the bottom.

When used as the verticle baseline/index against the reticle's verticle marker, you get as plumb as you can get.

Caveats:

[1] Can't be used in a breeze where the line moves (add more weight and that usually cures that issue).
[2] Your scope must be able to focus to as little as 50 yards (typically not impossible), and you might be able to do this in as little as 100 ft.
[3] Your rifle must be mounted and set verticle (but then that's true with any method using a level now isn't it?)

I seem to recall asking Longshot about their Microlevel a number of years ago and the response was they didn't plan on doing any more. They were too busy doing other stuff. If that's the case why don't they take the website down?

I give a +1 to the Hollands.
