Can Only Connect to Forum with Cellular?

I've finally just now got back in and have been having the same problems mentioned here AND can also get into this forum with no problems on my phone.

I don't have Comcast, but do have Cox here in Arizona. Since I'm really pretty tech savvy when it comes to computers for over 40 yrs, I tried everything to find out what the problem is, including taking a close look at my anti virus protection software (Norton to be precise).

I can log into all kinds of gun and shooting websites with no problem. I have absolutely no problem with any other website that I access and I have MANY. This problems has been unique to this particular web address. There has been no problem accessing all other places on accurateshooter, like bulletin, (except Classifieds, where I had the same problem).

Am glad to here I'm not alone with this problem, which to me confirms that it's really nothing to do with my system or ISP. So . . . ??? Wish I had a clue.

I'll go on the record as having had the same problem, but been OK for the last couple days. My provider is CenturyLink. All other gun forums work fine. Phone worked with WyFi off.

I'm a suspicious bastard, and wonder if we have an infill-TRATOR. jd

I have been able to go anywhere on the site except the forum at the times it was acting up and timing out.

Exactly.

I couldn't access the forums at all yesterday (Thursday) from early AM through 7 PM that same day. So the forums were out for 12 hours. The rest of the site was up and running. I too, know how to troubleshoot but nothing worked, there were no work arounds. This was not something a simple as clear your cache.:(

@INTJ might try pinging 192.124.249.6 to see if he gets a reply. This will help sort out if there's a DNS issue or a routing issue. If he gets a good reply he could try pinging forum.accurateshooter.com . If this gives a reply then it's probably an issue with his browser.

We are much alike suspicion is a good thing

I’ve tried 4 different home devices and various browsers (chrome/safari/edge/DDG).

When there is an issue - all browsers on all devices cannot connect to (http or https) forum.accurateshooter.com via my home broadband provider. All non-forum accurateshooter pages load fine (main accurateshooter page, cartridge guides, bulletin etc).

On the same devices/browsers - all you do is change the backend internet from the home broadband provider to your cell provider and the forum.accurateshooter.com pages load just fine.

I've been logging when I'm having problems with the site during this past week:

Actually, I'm currently having connection issues right now (started about 3am PT).

Using the same browser session (that worked around 1:30am PT):

Same experience as Bill randomly over the past week. Verizon jetpak and Firefox as the search engine if that helps pin things down. Everything has been good the past 3 days without clearing out anything.

Same issue here. On my laptop(not using Wifi) the site suddenly gives “server where this page is located isn’t responding “.
My ISP is Century Link
I use Safari latest version.
I am on my cell signal now logged in on iPhone.

Had the problem 2 days ago, shut down my computer, removed and re installed my anti virus suite, then it worked fine. This morning I had the same problem but realized we had dropped power overnight. Reset my modem and router, everything is working fine now.

OK I'm going to try to explain this once again. It makes no difference if you're on WiFi or a laptop or hardwired, etc. All that matters is who's providing your Internet service. Are you on your cable provider, cellular, phone company, etc?

You need to know how to perform an Internet PING. In Windows it's a utility you run from a command line prompt such as the Power Shell. You also need to understand that the alphanumeric name you enter to navigate to a site is not its address. The address is a series of number, similar to a phone number. When you enter a name, the network looks up the actual numeric address and substitutes it for the name. There are things that can go wrong. The most serious is having no route to the host. The way you test this is to run the following command "PING 192.124.249.6". If you have a route and the host is up, you should get a reply with the time the echo request took. If you get a reply, you should then try this test, "PING forum.accurateshooter.com" If this fails, it means that your ISP is unable to convert the name to the numeric address. There are several things that can be done to fix this. The short-term fix is to change your TCP/IP DNS lookup server. Google provides a free on at 8.8.8.8. If you do get a reply from pinging forum.accurateshooter.com but you can't read the forum in your browser, I'd suggest clearing your browser's cache and cookies and starting over.

LOL. If I had a nickel for every time I was told to clear the cache and check browser settings, I'd be rich. If I had a thousand dollars for every time that worked, I'd be in poverty. ;)

Everytime I have a computer/iPhone/Internet error, I trouble shoot and test all the obvious stuff. By the time I ask an IT type for help it's almost never a user level fix. I'll bet everyone's left arms that most of us on the forum, even those of us at life ver 6.0 and up, are similar. Maybe some day the 20 to 30 yr old Helpdesk types will figure out that many of us have been working with computers longer than they have been alive.....

Be that as it may, whatever @Forum Boss did yesterday fixed my issue. :)

My laptop/enternet/wifi is working flawlessly today. No issues noted at all so far. Maybe the Boss got it fixed for us.

Thank you acting superior in your post. The attitude that comes over is unappreciated.
As for a PING, I don’t use Windows. I use Safari.
I had the same type issue with Spire (my local natural gas company). Tried many times to get thru and, even though I cleared cache and history several times, was never able to get in. I called their CS and explained the situation and requested to speak IT support. The IT guy just so happened to be a former co-worker from my 30 years Telecom job and was eager to help resolve the issue. After almost two hours he was ready to give up when he asked if I would turn off the WiFi connection in my phone and try to connect to his site from there. The website came right up when we did that and it was the he confessed that they were indeed having some issues with their website and those issues were seen by my ISP as a security issue and were blocking me from access. I feel this is the issue with this situation due to the similarity.
BTW, I am still working from iPad and logged in to the site using my cell provider ATT.

Pinging 192.124.249.6 sent ten packets and got 100% packet loss.
