Can I ship gun parts to Canada

I tore a Tikka T3 apart, selling barrel, stock, dbm, is it legal for me to ship to Canada?

Selling or buying parts from Canada requires an import/export permit. I looked into it and decided to stay away from Canada.

Sell and ship something to Canada without a permit, expect a visit from Homeland Security. And your going to lose your parts and money.

This is a very serious matter, read the below very carefully, then you can check into Canada's policies. It's not worth the hassle for an individual or small company.

Information about export licenses exceptions, and restrictions regarding the export of a shotgun, shotgun parts or shotgun ammunition from the United States may be obtained from the Bureau of Industry and Security or by calling 202-482-4811.

To apply for an export license, you will do so through the Simplified Network Application Process Redesign (SNAP-R). SNAP-R allows for electronic submission of your application, updates on your application status, and printing of your license once it is approved. The Bureau of Industry and Security very rarely and only in exceptional cases will accept paper applications. Please contact them directly at 202-482-4811 on how to file a paper application.

Additionally, to export a shotgun, shotgun parts, or shotgun ammunition, an Electronic Export Information (EEI) submission via the Automated Export (AES) must be made. For more information about submitting the EEI please see Automated Export System (AES).

For information on how to permanently or temporarily export a handgun, rifle, their parts or their ammunition from the United States, please contact the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) or call (202) 663-1282.

The permanent export of a handgun, rifle, parts, or ammunition requires the exporter to register with DDTC and to complete a permanent export license application via D-Trade. Temporary exports of handguns, rifles, parts, or ammunition may either require the submission of a temporary export license or to qualify for an application license exemption. Additional information can be obtained at the Dept. of State website.

Additionally, to export a handgun, rifle, parts or ammunition, and Electronic Export Information (EEI) submission via Automated Export System (AES) must be made. For more information about submitting the EEI information please see AES on the Dept. of Commerce website.

Any person desiring to permanently export an automatic weapon without payment of the transfer tax must submit ATF-Form 9 for a permit providing for deferment of the transfer tax. See Form for instructions. Visit http://atf.gov for more information.

Please be aware that just because it may be legal to export a weapon from the United States on either a permanent or temporary basis, you still must comply with the import restrictions of any country that you may be going to or through on your way to your final destination.

Many countries are very restrictive regarding bringing firearms into their countries, so it is strongly suggested that you contact the embassies or consulates of the countries of your travels to determine their requirements.

You will need to submit a DSP-5 for a one-time export license

An individual trying to get a DS-5 (ITAR) statement....well I would go for a class 3 import license since they are easier to get.
