Its not a big deal but years ago I was at a gun show and picked up my rifle during last two hours of gun show. The dealer at the table was short on sales and needed to pay for tables and gas so he dropped the price on the rifle, so I snatched it up. My buddy that was along kind of snickered a little then said what if it's shot out? I said oh well. So, I made a quick run looking for some ammo to shoot in it just to see if it was shot out and picked up a few loads, some where other people's hand loads. Got home and looked up load info that came with them and it checked out so put scope on it and off to the range.
For shit ammo I thought it shot pretty good and all I had on it was this simons 24x.

R&B,
Woof! I have that stock's twin brother sitting out in my shop. Still trying to figure out what to build for just a fun gun.
It is a very comfortable stock to shoot off the bench. This one has an old timey Schultz & Larsen action it with a set trigger. It is fun to shoot. The rifle I do believe comes from Pennsylvania (Williamsport area).

I'm thinking of maybe having a 6mm Remington or 6.5 x 47 A.I. barrel made for this rifle. Whatever you decide to build you'll have fun shooting it I'm sure.

Howdy !

What can you tell us about the cartridge that rifle shoots, or maybe a pic ?

That is not a recoil pad. It is just a very well made wooden end plate.

It is a 6mm cartridge. The rifle is about 30lbs I think. I haven't really weight it. There is almost no recoil.
oic—. i shoot my 6br with no recoil pad no problem to but now have 300wsm and even at 20# gives ya a thump. working on my brake and have a recoil pad on it but doesnt cover the whole end. thanks

Howdy, again !

Thanx for your timely response.

Wasn't sure you were talkin' about the same wildcat. Your wildcat's name and
" short/ fat design remind me some... of the Smalley-McPherson " SMC2" cartridges, such as their " 6mm/55 SMC ". That wildcat is a tad longer than yours.

Hey ! I just saw in an accurateshooter search I made, that we talked about this very topic Feb 2019.

Everything you're doin' looks good !

Please keep us posted on your progress !

If you're trying to cover the whole back end of the rifle stock you're going to have to have something custom made. With all the new 3D printing options their might be something that can be made at a reasonable price.

I have 300 WM bull barrel I shoot out of a GRS Hybrid stock and an Eliseo chassis and it is not too bad. I just lean into it a bit with a firm shoulder and roll with the punch (LOL). It is not something I would want to shoot all day that's for sure. I have a 4" Tooley offset barrel block rifle stock I am going try try next. I might also have a 1.25" @ 30" straight barrel made just see how it would shoot. 300 I look to mass and bore line to help manage recoil.
