Can a Gunsmith Chamber....?

Can a gun smith chamber a barrel where the bullet will sit 10 thou off the lands and still fit in a magazine with some a little room left in the mag? I guess by tweaking the free bore where it is shorter in this kind of case...? does that make since? That way a loaded rounds fits in the mag, has plenty of room, and once chambered I can still get to 10 thou off the lands?

Or are reamers made with a certain freebore... I was thinking they could cut the chamber, then with a throat reamer cut the desired freebore....

while all in the mean time making sure the bullet doesnt have to be seated too too deep in the case... or am I asking too much.... I know this is the luxury of a single shot where mag length doesnt matter...

All it takes are dimensions of your specifications & money to grind the reamer!

You can get a zero freebore or short freebore reamer. Then you can get a throater and make it what you want. The longer you throat usually means more velocity and if you throat it too short the bullet takes up powder capacity. Matt

I would have the conversation with the gunsmith and whom ever your getting to make your reamer. You can get pretty much any combination you would like done.

There are other issues to consider.What bullet do you want to use?How long is the mag?Your oal is gonna be dictated by the mag length so if you want to shoot a long bullet the seating depth could put you in the donut of the case,or take away some valuable case capacity.

What I do is: pick the bullet I am shooting seat it where I want it in the brass then send that to David Kiff and tell him I want the reamer to match the dumby round I sent. That way it's exactly what I wanted.
