Just wondering if I can resize 222 rem cases into 223 rem? I can't find 223 brass around here but 222 rem is plentiful. If I can do this is it just a matter of running it through a 223 fl size die and trim, or will it be more involved? Thanks all.
i know for sure 222 will not work...simply too short...but 222mag may work or 204 ruger may work...i would look for more first hand advice on doing this before you try it...Ive been shooting the 223 for 6 years and just learned that the 223 headspaces off of the shoulder and not the case head...stupid me for never knowing that :
On a whim I just resized a new 204 case in my 223 FL die.. As I knew, it just needs a trim now.. If I were going to use this in my AR i would re-size again in my SB die..
I imagine if you wanted to go through the trouble to fireform, 222 brass could be made to work..
FWIW, 204 brass is like $30/100 at Midway and 222 Rem Mag brass is like $45/100.
Mao,
I will not step over the previous posts but if you have something to trade I have quite a bit of tumbled, sized/deprimed and swaged(Dillon) once fired mostly LC brass. If things don't work out with previous posters, likewise, send PM but only if you cannot make a swap with the other guys first.
