Calling all 20 cals...Let's see your wildcats!

20 Practical. It's so easy to load for. Pictured below is a 15"m 10 twist X-Caliber barrel mounted to a Savage 110 PCS. I also have a 20 VT, but the 20 P has become my favorite. Last time at the range it was averaging 3650 FPS.

I am VERY much wanting to do the very thing you have done. I have several specialty pistols and want to build basically a clone of yours for a coyote, bobcat and fox rig.

Both of mine are barely even wildcats just straight neck downs from their parent case and both are Rem700 based builds wearing Hart barrels. First pic is 20-222 shooting 40gr Berger w/H322 and lower pic is 20-250 shooting Berger 55's w/RL16 Nothing particularly exotic or exciting about either build but generally when you use all good parts/pieces and a good gunsmith you end up with good results.

I don't know why but I've always wanted to take one of my CZ 527 17 Hornets and make it a 20 H Hornet and shoot something like that 24gr Hornady NTX bullet. For a medium-ish range ground squirrel/PD gun I've always thought something like that would be a fun one.

I bet that is a sweet package indeed! What kind of velocities are you getting with the 24’s?
Agreed, that does sound like a fun little package. Would be hell on and make a great PD's and ground squirrels setup that'd be much easier on barrels then any of the other 20 cals that's for sure.

Like 20 TAC I'd be curious to know what kind of velocities you get with it and how long of a barrel are you using also if you by chance know the case capacity in H2O to overfill that information would be much appreciated.

Playing with QL I plugged in 14gr H2O as the case capacity used 50K as max chamber PSI a 24in barrel with the 24gr NTX and the estimates were in the high 3775 to slightly over 3800 using 12.5gr +/- Win 296 & Lil Gun and those two powders showed quite a bit more velocity then any of the others. Norma R123, never heard of that one before, and H110 estimated velocity around 3680-3710 then the velocities dropped way down to around 3150 +/- with some of the next best velocity powders like 1680. It'll be interesting to hear what kind of velocities folks are getting that actually have one of these and what their load/s are particularly with the 24gr bullets. Sooo "lyktorct" don't keep us in the dark and do tell what your secret sauce is. :)
