California Semi-Auto ban

Regarding the post asking what California residents would do if a ban on semi-automatic rifles becomes law I began to ask myself what I WOULD do. Decided to today, I'm out of here. 50 years is long enough, going north to Oregon. If anyone has handles on the Mid-Range and Long Range matches there I am all ears. Hell, I don't even own a semi-auto! Can not deal with these moronic politicians any longer...

Wow Mike, thought you were going to lay low a little longer, good for you! You know we're on track to escape as well.

It seems missouri is going your way now. I just saw on the news that the house is trying to overide a govenors veto of a bill to infringe on citizens rights. We will see what happens there. It is spreading over the whole usa now little by little till they get their way.

Good for both of us Gary! Somehow I am holding little hope of unseating enough Dems to save this State.
I will say that attendance at the public ranges lately is way, way up with large percentages of ARs shooting every round of 5.56 they can lay their hands on. I am going back to large rifle primer brass to keep shooting!

i hate to get political when engaged in a pastime i really enjoy BUT some politicians are making every attempt to negatively impact my pastime, so l'ii respond. liberalism is a malignancy! like cancer it destroys the good and eventually itself. there can be remissions...remember ronald reagan? a terminal cancer can be spreading and the host is unaware. suddenly there are symptoms and the host discovers the malignancy. we have to do something to stop the entity that is harming the host. i hate to sound so negative, but i'm old enough to accept reality having lost several family members to cancer...it happens! the current maligmancy of american liberalism is terminal! after every remission there has been a resurgence of greater intensity. there may be more people in america now recieving than producing and thomas jefferson warned this would be the end of our democracy. i have enjoyed the bounties of the most wonderful country on earth, but my grandchildren will not. they MAY be able to read about these times and only wonder...what if, what if. i'lll enjoy today and hopefully tommorow and regret i could not have done more.

Unfortunatley anyone leaving Cal and taking all there guns is just playing into there hands. NO guns in Cal is their ultimate agenda. Wasn't very hard apparently.

Running away aint going to help the country, stay, fight, by whatever means necessary needed to protect your constitutional rights. By running you give the two mafias a model on how to do this to the rest of the country. I urge you to fight locally and at a state level, but under no circumstances give up your means of self defense against the state and others.I feel for you guys, I am worried about what kind of serfdom awaits our kids.

If you cant stand it anymore you are always welcome here in Fla. I fear for the future of our country.

You guy's who dont live here should understand, pro second amendment candidates are very rare in CA, there are a few but the problem is the vast majority of voters here are in favor of gun control legislation, the result is we have no representation in our state government, the few who do get it are drownd out by the majority who have complete control, this state has many other big problems as a result of the voters desire for bigger government that will ultimately do great harm to the country, it's become a hostile business environment especially for those of us in a firearms related business, those of us who have been fighting the battle for years understand the trend, that we are not listened to by the majority of voters or the liberals they elect to represent their views, in fact many CA gun owners helped bring this upon us because believe it or not, liberals own guns too but the liberal agenda is more important to them. We are wise to be worried for our country, CA is the example for what the liberal voter has in mind for everyone.

lpreddick I agree with your post. I believe liberalism is more like alcoholism. To recover from alcoholism, the addict must hit rock bottom before he decides to change. Unfortunately, I believe the only hope for this country is for it to collapse under the policies of liberalism. Once that happens, we can rebuild the country with a modified constitution that prohibits communism, socialism, Marxism, liberalism or any other name they use.

I live in California, and desire to leave and have been looking for opportunities that will facilitate me removing my family from this cesspool. There is no hope in California. Too many people that produce have left. The main cities in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas control the political agenda and their way is that of liberalism. Liberalism is so entrenched in this state, that in the 2010 Fall elections, the California voters elected Jenny Oropeza to the state senate despite her dying one month before the election.

Those of you who say we should stay and fight, well I welcome you to move to California and set the example on how to execute that fight. There is a popular idiom, that Ronald Reagan used in a number of his speeches regarding individual states, you vote with your feet.

By staying and fighting you eventually die and the state will take those guns. Take your guns and get out. Work and pay tax to a state that protects freedom. Every dollar you pay in tax is used by those liberals. The best thing for Ca. would be for every conservative to leave. That would probably be a majority of the tax money gone. I think Ron Paul said something like, the only way to kill the dragon is to starve it out. Meaning stop giving it money!

LOL. If all the conservatives left, where would the state get the money for welfare checks?

Update:
They are far from finished, just passed a lead ammo ban for hunters

The problem in California is Nation wide. The larger Urban areas are very anti-gun. The Rural areas tend to believe in the Second amendment. Once the Urban centers get large enough, it is all over as they dictate rules to those in rural areas, and they don't give a damn about our constitution. Look at the county results in the last election and this tends to hold true nation wide. I suppose the best way to get their attention is to stop selling them anything produced in rural areas. They don't produce much in those cities and I bet they would get hungry fast. Those of us in the country would survive quite nicely without them.

Missouri is no where near going the way of CA. The bill would have nullified Federal gun laws in Mo and made it a crime to publish gun owners information. Gov Nixon (Dem) vetoed it. The house voted to override it, the senate missed by 1 vote. Largely because of the fear of lawsuits and price to defend the law in the courts. If they removed the language making it a crime to publish gun owners information the veto override would have passed senate as well. They were afraid of defending 1st Amendment law suits.

Chiming in from the right coast/left state of NY...

1) if you are in a rural state/conservative...be aware, your own schools are raising the next lefty.
2) If you think you are safe, wake up, it comes one step at a time and will remove your rights to liberty, which IS what we are talking about here, not just your hobby
3) As an LEO, I no longer even trust my fellow officers...the new laws require us to make daily decisions, and the mortgage and food for Jr is a big motivator for many. (me? I am quitting)
4) If you are talking about liberty, not your hobby, sooner or later it is coming to a fight.
5) if you are only talking about your hobby, take up golf.

I Do understand the feeling of the guys in Ca...not much different here. Just sayin, I am not a complying type of guy
