Am wondering what advantage there could be with a semi-auto in shooting our single-shot (F-Class, benchrest, long-range, etc.) competitions? Obvious advantages for XTC.

If zombies appeared on the horizon, especially the fast kind, the semi-auto could be advantageous.

This is the rifle chosen by the Brits for durability and accuracy. Made in the USA LMT. I shot this for a friend, it has the chrome lined service barrel. They also come with a precision stainless cut rifle Rock Creek barrel. The five shot is at 600 as well as the 3 on steel. Not a BR rifle but a step above the 5.56 in Afghanistan.

I have a JP AR chambered in a 223

Here is a 200 yard five shot group with the rifle.

However, I was wondering more along the lines of if anyone had ever really tried to wring the accuracy out of something like a Browning BAR, or a Sauer 303, perhaps even a Remington 742 or 750?

Big Army tried the BAR in 300WM and accuracy and durability was lackluster at best. This was years ago and from what I remember they really tried to make a go of them but it is like trying to get water out of a sinking ship.

Anyone ever seen the video on the accuracy international website of a ex us
seal shooting one of their 50cal S/A rifles at a much further distance than 1000yds

It's a different game when it's government funded. Cost is no object, and they're trying to hit targets of a different sort than a sub-MOA X ring. 8)
