Caliber changeover

Hey everyone,

This may seem like an obvious question, but what caliber,s) could i purchase a Remington 700 short action in in order to convert it over to a .308 Win. without any work except for re-barreling?,I know a .243 and 7mm-08 would work, but are there any others?)

Any cartridge with the .473" head size: .243 Win, .260 Rem, 7-08 Rem, .308 Win, 22-250 Rem, etc.

Get your factory action checked and trued if necessary, before you rebarrel. Lately the guns from the Green box have been less than perfect. Bolt lug engagement is just as important as receiver alignment. Get an oversized precision ground lug and a high quality barrel. For about the same cost you can get a custom action.
