Caldwell Rest question...

I am in the process of having a rest built, but it is taking longer than expected and I find myself temporarily without a rest to shoot off of. A friend has a Caldwell base he will loan me that I can put my top on. I believe it is the 1000 yrd model (bigger one). My question is, is the screw that holds the top to the center post the same on the Caldwell as say a hart rest? Or is it bigger smaller, different thread? I think someone here probably has done this before and so I'm hoping can help me decide if it's worth messing with. Thanks, Rick Graham

Thanks LH. I am planning on using the stem that is already on the Caldwell. My hope is that the screw that holds the top to the stem is the same diameter as on a hart. In other words I don't want to modify my top for a temporary situation. Looks Like I am just going to have to take the caldwell apart (when I get it) and see what I have to work with. Thanks, Rick

The screws are not all the same that hold the top to the stem. You may find it very difficult to drill and tap the Caldwell stem.
