Buying powder

Where is the best place to buy powder from? Bass pro is close to me but to high and only carry 1lb bottles. I'm pretty sure I can get some 8lb bottles elsewhere and come out better. Is midway just as about the best place to get it or not? This.

If you buy online or anywhere you have to have it shipped you can add $ 25 to the price for hazmat fee. If your buying enough powder the hazmat might work out. I agree with all of the places namedand would like to add Widner to the list. If you use real slow burning powders like AA 8700, Widners has a real bargin on some surplus powder with the burn rate of AA 8700, I just got 96 lbs. of it, but haven`t loaded any of it yet.

Wideners also usually has good component prices. If you can swing 16 lbs of powder and even some primers too... you can really make the hazmat fee worth it and beat the local prices by $4-$8 per pound.

Ditto on Powder Valley, watch Graf & sons, sometimes they offer specials where they don't charge the HasMat, BUT just compare the total prices. IF you can get a couple of your shooting buddies to go in on the order or powder & primers and thus split the Has Mat & shipping it can work out pretty good. ;D

Another +1 for Powder Valley, Graf's, Bruno's....

Midway sometimes has sales but they're generally higher - sometimes quite a LOT higher - the same holds for Sinclair, now part of Brownell's.

You can save some serious bucks getting a group of shooters to put an order in together as long as somebody is willing to do the leg work getting it into the buyer's hands.

If you like surplus powder, here are some other options:

Jeff Bartlett: http://www.gibrass.com/index.html

HI-tech ammo: http://hi-techammo.com/

Wideners: http://www.wideners.com/

I have been using WC844 (H335) with some great results in my .223 loads.

As stated Powder Valley & same for Grafs when they have a hazmat free time.

Thats when I get mine. Buy the kegs and double dip with a few cases of primers. Makes the cost per item really good. The stuff will always shoot as long as you keep it inside the house.

Powder Valley is also one of those companies that never raped their customers a few years back when there was a primer scare. They earned my business for life during that. Some people were charging dbl what Powder Valley was. Powder Valley would get pallets of primers in, and they would be sold in 4 days. They honored their normal every day price. THATS what earned my business!!!!

Wow guys! I appreciate all of the positive responses! We aim to please. If there is anything I can do to provide better service or additional products please do not hesitate to offer suggestions.
