I like that idea. I have thought about this somewhat. When a person wants to sell something, it is "send the money" and when I get it and the funds clear, I will send the item. The buyer is trusting the seller to send the item he purchased. In the past when I purchased an item I had to repeatidly ask the seller to send the purchased item to me. So it goes both ways. What's is the answer.
The perfect world: When a person says "I'll take it", the check should be in the mail within 24 hrs and the sell should have the item in the mail within 24 hrs. They cross in the mail.
I think a "good guy/bad guy list" is the way to go.

We've considered a "bad buyers list". The problem is that we've found that the majority of problems truly have an innocent explanation,check lost in mail, family member sick, bank error etc.)
When people are disappointed with a transaction on this Forum, some have a tendency to go overboard, basically raking someone over the coals and tarnishing his reputation is a way that is hard to un-do. In one situation a guy was being called out as a "whelcher and "dirty contract-breaker" when in fact he was sitting in a hospital going through emergency surgery.
PENDING UPDATES:
As part of the major site overhaul this year we plan to put the FORUM on a new, dedicated server with new software. One of the planned features is a more sophisticated Classifieds system,a software module). This would provide more control over transactions and allow an EBAY style feedback system.
While a feedback system is far from perfect, I think it may be more fair than having a black-ball list.
