There seems to be a bond of trust with shooters and Butch is one fine example of such people.

Might also include Larry D. Scott and the Harrel's-----just to mention a few. They don't get any straighter than these folks.

Butch also guided us through the process of getting the most for our money for John's rifle.

I ordered a rest top from Butch a few years back, same procedure of him sending it before he received payment. There's not many people that trust total strangers like that, especially these days! It also says a little something about the people involved in the shooting community. All I ever hear is good experiences and positive feed back about him and his business. My hats off to a great product and an even better person!

You know..........most in the shooting sports, and BR in particular, are stand up people. Once in a great while a bad egg comes on the scene and much is written about them. They don’t last long as natural attrition takes care of them. The list of “good ones” is long. There is Butch and the Harrell Brothers as was mentioned but let’s not forget the others such as Bart Sauter, Kelbly, Randy Robinett, Seb, Jerry Stiller, the list goes on to where Alzheimer’s kicks in.

on his website. names addresses and I think phone #s

Most folks around these parts just assume everyone to be honest, if your word ain’t no good, well, there you go.

It is very nice too see and hear that some still believe in the old hand shake and word, being their bond. The old ways are passing away way to fast in the modern world.

In my 25yrs ive only had one guy get over on me. It was only $550 and i honestly think after hounding him to the point he hates me i think he really thinks he paid me. I was working in his town for 5 months a couple years ago, if i didnt believe he thought that i would have paid him a visit. Most never think about people having their address when they stiff you. Hes about 85 now and long banned from this site.

Sometimes people have to be patient, Things happen. for personal or foreseeing reason. an order might be delayed and its anyone's fault.

Never dealt with anyone like this before. Yesterday I ordered one of his Shadetree front rests. I received an email from him confirming the order and shortly thereafter I received another email telling me that the rest would be sent out on Monday.

That's a very fast turnaround in it's self but he won't receive a check until probably Thursday. I thought there was some mistake so I sent another email asking if he was sending it out prior to receiving payment. He assured me he was. I am flabbergasted. In my 82 years of life, I have never made a purchase where I would receive a product before the funds were in hand.

Good old Texan, does business the old way on a handshake so to speak.

You have several members here that do that and there is a "trust" that you earn by your reputation on the forum. Mr. @JimPag is another example, COULD NOT get him to take PP on a Friday so told him I'd mail a check on Monday, check hit the mail Monday morning the item I had purchased from him arrived on Tuesday! He had mailed it on Friday. Good people.

Sure are. Even for a young guy like me, it's a good example of how things COULD work in this world if we'd be honest with each other.

Kenny Porter just sent me a die and collets, no questions asked, with an invoice in the box. I just sent him a cashier's check in return, no questions asked.

Porter is also a Texan. Huh.

I have nothing but good things to say about Texans. They have bought a bunch of my Cartridge boxes. And they can SHOOT TOO !

No offense Butch, but I have never waited for a check to clear. I was only stiffed once in 22 years, and that was from a guy in PA. I just refuse to believe that any of the people I have met and shoot with ( as at the SS ) would do that. Furthermore, I normally send out their product by the next day after I receive their order. My thinking is... if they are a "leaker", it won't take long for the word to get out. Benchrest shooters are remarkably honest and first class people, period.

I never dreamed this post would drag on this long. The folks on this forum are all outstanding and full of integrity. Butch has been doing what Butch does, for a long time and his reputation is impeccable. Good to see so many here appreciate him and his long service to our community.
