Butch Lambert

Look at all this praise for a fellow shooter.. I like following some of his beautiful gun builds. I haven't been to active on the forum lately but I will chime in for a Butch thread.. I have had good experiences with Butch as well.. He goes beyond what I could ever expect.. Just sell some more rests for him with a kind word to those looking..

Butch is first class all the way. This country would be in way better shape with more Butch's. Thanks for everything you do Butch. That ranges from having a heart as big as Texas to the way you handle the village idiots.

Just thought I would report back to tell you the results of my Shadetree front rest. Rest arrived safe and sound.

My first trip to the range was Sunday. I was invited to Thurmont Sporting Club to spend some time with Dean Breeden for a learning session. That's another story but needless to say I came away from that session with a host of new knowledge. Dean is a very down to earth fellow who enjoys helping others learn the rudiments of benchrest shooting to all who are interested. Watching him reloading at the range was a real experience and has given me insight as to the equipment and simplicity of reloading and excess equipment in my inventory that I don't need.

I had a little trouble adjusting to the new rest because the bag from my Bald Eagle rest was a bit small and could not be tightened enough so that the ears were snug against the rifle. When I got home, I used the rear part of some wood shims and was able to get a good tight fit.

Back to the range on Tuesday and now I had an excellent session with it. It holds steady to your point of aim and improved my shooting scores exponentially. Very impressive. Needless to say I will be purchasing a new front bag as soon as I decide on which to buy. I want one with higher and wider ears.

I know there are more expensive rests out there but for my purposes this one is just great and it did not break the bank

So in closing, Butch Lambert builds a great rest that is affordable to most of us and is a stand up guy. You won't be disappointed with this rest. It does everything it is advertised to do.

You better be careful, Nick! You’re going to run out of excuses!;):) After I bought “all the right stuff”, it was down to me and my reloading.:p
The Shadetree tops are great! I just bought another one for friends to use, AFTER I make sure it works right!;)

Haven’t meet Mr. Lambert, this reminds me of my order placed with Harrell’s Precision. When I offered the card number for payment the Gentleman said no worries just send me a check when you receive the press.
I had the same thing happen when I ordered a product from Harrell's Precision.

Some years ago I talked to and ordered a stock blank from Jerry Biesen. He sent the stock the next day without payment. And by the way, he was a great guy to visit with. Barlow

:(The ones that came on them. I don’t know because I bought the rests used. I can take pics tomorrow and look for names, Nick.o_O

he's a wealth of information too, been shootin Benchrest since the old days!! and don't mind sharing:eek:. and like everyone else said, a dang fine fellow that just happens to make, imho, a fine coaxial rest that barely loses out to one that cost almost 4x as much and you can't have for a year after you decide you want it, and I said "barely":D. wishing you the best butch. bryant
What his site/company?

Stand up guy. Didn't know me from adams housecat but as soon as i placed the order i got a shipping notice. Well the check was in the mail.

He answered all the questions i had that i am sure he had heard 100's of times before and didn't even seem to get irritated. He helped me find a base. Couldn't have been more helpful. The top works great.

Not that he need any recommendations i would without reservation.

He has one flaw.....he won’t hire a 22 year old tootsie to answer the phone. I told him he could get her in and out past his wife if he bought her some run of the mill coveralls and a droopy engineer’s hat. He’s afraid my suggestion would get him in trouble. This would free him up to spend more time on the lathe and mill and keep us all happier. We must think outside the box.

You know..........most in the shooting sports, and BR in particular, are stand up people. Once in a great while a bad egg comes on the scene and much is written about them. They don’t last long as natural attrition takes care of them. The list of “good ones” is long. There is Butch and the Harrell Brothers as was mentioned but let’s not forget the others such as Bart Sauter, Kelbly, Randy Robinett, Seb, Jerry Stiller, the list goes on to where Alzheimer’s kicks in.
