Bushnell 6-24X50 Tactical Elite 4200

Whats up with Bushnell C/S ?? Called them today and they tell me the 42-6245T has a one inch tube....reports here say is a 30mm tube...huh ????????? Guess I'll order one and measure it myself....

What is the outside diameter of the objective bell on this new Bushnell 6-24X50 Tactical Elite?

I'm trying to figure out the minimum height rings that I'll need on my particular rifle.

TIA

Tom,
Thank you. That measurement just showed me that I'll need a set of rings that measure 1" from the base to the scope centerline instead of the .885" rings that I have on hand.

Mike at CSgunworks.com tested one and he got 45 MOA top to bottom. I suppose there may be unit to unit variations. But assuming the reticle is reasonably centered to start with with Signature Rings, OR a 20 MOA rail, that would give you at least 42 MOA above center. A .308 shooting 175 MKs at 2700, will need 40.7 moa "up" from 0 yards to 1000 yards. A 6BR shooting 105s at 2850 will need 34.6 "up" elevation from 0 to 1000.

The key question is if one is really getting 1/2 the total travel above center.

I thought they said 50 MOA total elevation or about 25 MOA above center. That would put the scope at the very end of its adjustment using a 20 MOA base. Aside from having little if any adjustment left, it would be as far away from the optical center of the scope as possible which I would not consider to be desirable.

The glass on the 4200s I have is nice enough, but the adjustment range is pretty marginal on the 1" scopes. There must be something odd about their erector system that they are only getting 50 MOA total elevation in a 30mm tube. Leupold gets 80 something MOA total elevation in a 30mm tube if I recall correctly.

It seems like the scope missed the mark for the intended user which is unfortunate.
