Bushnell Elite 4200

Several years ago my first scope was a Bausch&Lomb 4000 6X24.
Very sharp...close to Luepold Clarity.Tracked well.
The 4200's have a different, newer coating. If they're like my older 4000 Elite...it'll be a great upper-entry level scope.
Get the most solid rings you can afford...don't cheap out on the mounting system or it doens't matter what scope you have..

6-24X 4200 Elite is an excellent varminting scope, and a great value in sports optics.,What distances?) I sold off an optically inferior Weaver 6-24x for a 4200 Elite 6-24X and now own two 6-24x's and one 8-32x 4200's. I wish I had the mil-dot reticle, but I use these for 600 yard competition as well as varminting.,Ain't the 6BR grand?) I also sold my optically inferior 36x Weaver for a B&L 4200 36X for short range BR competition, and now own two of these as well.

BTW, I was told by Bushnell marketing that the switch from the B&L name to Bushnell came about because B&L no longer wanted their name, used under licence by Bushnell for many years) associated with products related to firearms, and there is NO difference in the products.

I have two 6-24 4200's with Mil-Dot and can't imagine a better varmint scope at any price.

Optical clarity leaves Leupy and most other scopes under a thousand bux in it's dust.

Also try using one in a low light situation some time. It's AMAZING what Bushnell has done with lens coatings!!!

I have two Bushnell 4200 6-24s.......one with mil dot and one with plex.....great scopes......I wish Bushnell would wake up...install real resettable -0- target towers on these scopes. The current towers work well are very repeatable...they just need upgraded. Clarity is super....the 26" of adjustment is easily changed with Burris Signature ring inserts.

I also have the 4200 6-24 and love it. Use it on ground squirrels in CA with a mil dot reticle. Very good scope. Was curios though, has anyone had any experience with the 4200 8-32? Just curious if the extra power is needed for the 500yd squirrels.

I also have an older B&L 36x with FH/dot. I was using it primarily as a "tuning" scope for different rifles, but as soon as my 6BR is finished, it's going on top of that.

I just got a 4000 6-24 yesterday in a deal, this one has a plex in it. Looks very clear, but jury still out on whether it will shoot or not.

Very underrated scope, IMO.

I have four 4200 Bushnells, three Leupolds and two Nightforces.
After shooting the other scopes and then picking up the Bushnells, I always wonder where did the other $700 go. You cannot, emphatically, buy a better scope for the price, in my opinion. Sure, the reticle could be a little thinner, but it has never caused me to shoot a bigger group or miss a prairie dog, and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

My brother and I both have B & L Elite 4000's in 4-16x50. They really are a good scope. Mine has done a lot of field/target shooting over the last 8 or so years in lots of dust/rain and has seen 8000+ .25/06 rounds. Adjustable objective and power ring still as smooth as silk. I have looked through a lot of big dollar scopes and none have been clearer, some have been comparible but none better). Their repeatability is also spot on. Can't go wrong with them I reckon. The new Elite 4200's should be slightly better with newer coatings etc but probably not noticable.

I use and recommend Bushnell 4200's over ANY other scope due to image clarity, adjustment integrity and light transmission.
However there are faults: you have to be a 16 year old Navajo indian to read the dials, and worst of all; they got the thread pitch wrong on the w&e adjustments, so each click is 1/7 m.o.a instead of 1/8. Ever wonder about about that long-range dial-up?
On the plus side, this foul-up means that my Elite 4200 6-24's actually have about 32 m.o.a. elevation which is heaps for F-class. And, the 40mm objective lens keeps the image sharp on bright days, far superior to the over-rated Nightforce.

I own many scopes, and its hard to beat Leupold or NF, but my Elite 4200 with plex reticule is very clear. I have it on a factory Sako .264 Win Mag for long range out west hunts. I would recommend it. Now if I could just learn to use the mil dot reticule on my 8-32 Burris, I would be in hog heaven!!
