Bushing size

What 3 bushing sizes would you buy for a Redding Type S FL die using a no turn neck barrel using Lapua blue box brass and 107 Match King bullets?

Why would you consider a .267 or .268 bushing. A loaded round using blue box lapua is usually .267. Using a .267 or .268 bushing is applying basically no neck tension. Granted I shoot only short range benchrest (100-200 yards), using up to 68g bullets, I know of no fellow benchrest shooters that I shoot with that do not apply more tension. Most are using .002 or .003 amount of tension, which would mean a bushing of .265 or .264.

I would drop the largest and substitute a 265. That way, you should have 1, 2 and 3 thou covered.

Keep in mind that as your brass work hardens, what was giving you 1 thou will be giving you zero thou and so on.

The fix is to send it out for annealing or do it yourself. I have an annealing machine, but not the time to get it calibrated. Maybe after lacrosse season...

I am shooting a 6BR in short range (100-300) yard Benchrest. When loading with Bergers, Bib's or Sierra's I use a .267 bushing. This provides just enough tension to hold the bullet firmly. (If I use a .268 bushing the bullet can be moved with finger force). I also have some Hottenstein style bullets that need a .266 bushing for the same tension.

I have much better accuracy with this set-up than trying for more neck tension. The PPC shooters do like more neck tension, but I haven't found that to help my BR.
