Burris Zee rings

The provided screw used to tighten the rings to the base is really substandard. Anybody got any replacement suggestions that don't require drill and retapping the ring? I don't have that capability. Like the rings other than this engineering oversight.

Can you go into a little more detail on this problem your having...
I use and have put on hundreds of them and never noticed any thing
substandard about them.. Maybe you just got a bad one ;O,
Not enough room to drill and tap it to a larger size, so thats out..

I believe there's an outfit that sells a Torx head screw to replace the marginal slot head screw which Burris unfortunately provides as standard equipment. I too wish they would provide a better crossbolt than they do...

If I can find the company which sells the better unit, I'll post a link.

I'm talking about the slot head cross bolt. Difficult to get a solid grip to put enough torque on the bolt to get it to tighten. I've had them break also.

A torx head would be great.

Granted that a torx head screw would be better, but a properly fitted screw driver would be a huge help in getting a good grip, and help prevent any damage...

If memory serves me correctly, this same issue was discussed within the last couple of months in a benchrest.com posting. The solution was to use a #6 socket head cap screw,1 inch long, 40tpi). Will try to find the post and advise.
