Burris XTR ring insert question

Currently my inserts are set up as +10 for the front top and -10 front bottom and -5 rear top and +5 rear bottom. With this setup I only have 5 clicks of bottom travel. I need to bring my POI down by about 3 inches. So, if I keep my inserts in same position but just revers the +/- will that...

i use them anytime i can.
no more ring marks on scopes.

The outside of the inserts are spherical and match the curvature of the inside of the rings. The rings are first tightened on the rail, then the caps: that lets the rings self-adjust so there is no stress on the scope tube except compression over the full ID of the rings. The polymer used for the inserts is grippy enough that the scope never moves - I've used it on a .338 Lapua for several hundred shots usin a heavy scope and the zero has never changed. I use nothing but Signature Zees on my rifles.

Didn't one of the benchrest manufacturers employ the same concept but machined from aluminum?

I use them as much as possible myself.

I don't use them to adjust left/right but they can be quite helpful to add some minutes of drop on a long range setup. It only matters which insert is under the scope in this case, and so I just need to mind the numbers. For maximum drop, I put a - in front and a + in back.

Yes, Jewell did. 'Live Center' rings. Used to see them advertised in 'Precision Shooting' magazine.
