Bump Stocks

I haven’t heard one intelligent argument for bump stocks yet, and you don’t seem up to the task.

Count me out for defending every scam artist invention focused on the double digit I.Q. crowd to make them feel special.
Ok, NOW you provide an intelligent argument as to how and why to ban them under the protection of the second amendment constitutionally.
Anxiously awaiting your argument derived with your superior intellect.( might have to dumb it down for those of us with only double diget I.Q's)

( Hint: you can not use , hunting, sporting or target shooting use);)

I would appreciate your source for that number. That is about 1/2 the TOTAL population and you must realize humans under the age of 18-21 make up a significant part of the total population.

I just find it comical we are discussing this idiotic firearm accessory on a forum with the name “Accurate Shooter!”

Honestly, I am not aware of any publicly released information I can cite. I am sure that NIJ and BATFE have reports available. I'm too busy to look for them though. That kind of research takes a significant level of effort.

I have been a consultant to a major federal law enforcement agency for some time... in 2018, about 160 million was a loose estimate that was cited in a discussion group I was a part of. I can't really go much further into it.

How about because its fun... I like wasting ammo... machine guns shouldn't be unobtainable and simulate machine gun fire is a legal alternative.

A better question is, why does anyone have to justify buying, owning and using anything? Especially when that item is Constitutionally protected.

Count me out for defending every scam artist invention focused on the double digit I.Q. crowd to make them feel special.

You have an opposing opinion, no reasonable counter, so you are resorting to insults... good deal.

Since you bring intelligence into the discussion, you might try a bit harder to realize this isn't about bumpstocks.

You do realize bumpstockj got banned because some unelected bureaucrat decided a few pieces of plastic rifle stock now constituted a Class III firearm, right?

If you don't see the problem with that, I will as politely as I can suggest you not discussed the intellectual capabilities of others.

Good Luck.

Why start throwing insults and unkind comments towards each other here.
We all have a opinion on the bump stock issue.
The main point, I believe is the fact that it was jumped on by those in authority due to one criminal using one on a weapon in Las Vegas and killing and injuring others.
And then the media jumped in and that is all we heard, read and saw on the major news for weeks of how it was so powerful and just made the "Assault Rifle" that much more deadly.
So of course those with the power made into a great big monster and no one should own it and set the deadline of April-2019 for all of them to be destroyed or turned in.
It was just, all but a big one, a another nail in the coffin taking down the 2nd Amendment.

@JimT You are so narrow minded and short sighted it boggles the mind. You need to take a huge step back and truly look at what the socialists want from us and you. They will not be happy with anything until total confiscation happens. So yes your sniper rifles will be also taken away. You know Bench Rest rifles and the ones we use in matches. I can imagine they will say they are too accurate.

Maybe you are getting long in the tooth (life is almost done) and hate your grandkids so I guess f--k them and their rights? The rest of us see this for what it is. Taking away the rights of every American now and to come. Look at how they banned machineguns. If you were to look at every member on this forum I bet less than 10 have a machinegun.

To me you and your ilk are a huge problem with our country. You are the type who will advocate taking rights away from others while saying I am a firearms owner or pro second amendment. I am not that way. I say we need to get the rights we lost back.

this right here is the big point. The firearms pics released to the public that were supposed to be actual crime scene photos showed bump stocks fitted to ARs with bipods. All claiming he used the bump stocks in conjunction with the bipods on his military style assult weapons to lay down sniper style fire.
That on itself is an impossible feat as the entire gun minus the butt stock needs to be pulled forward to depress the trigger. This makes being able to "float" the firearm impossible if the bipod is resting on any fixed suface.
I am not a tin foil hat wearing sob , but the public was in no way given anywhere near half of the fact in that shit show.

U.S.—In a rash of tragedies all across the United States, every single bump stock in the nation was tragically lost in various boating accidents earlier this week.

Coincidentally, the bump stocks have just been banned by the Trump administration. Since all the bump stocks have been destroyed, it's now impossible for the ATF to confiscate them or fine people who did not destroy them.

"Well, I guess our job is done," an ATF representative said. "We were gonna have to make sure people complied with this unilateral executive order, but now I guess we can just harrass gun owners for other stuff. Worked out pretty nicely for all of us, I think."

It's not clear why gun owners were taking their bump stocks boating. Some have theorized they were using them to fish, or just wanted to make sure they weren't stolen while they were away. Whatever the case, it's tragic that the bump stocks are now all at the bottom of lakes, rivers, and oceans from coast to coast.

And I find it sad that in a country founded on the principles of individual liberty, we have gun owners who are perfectly happy to surrender any sort of arms to the government, so long as it doesn’t directly affect their hobby.

We, as a firearms using community are currently enduring an attack on certain types of legally possessed firearms. It just happens to be the so-called "military style assault weapons", and certain features and accessories that are commonly used on these firearms; such as high capacity magazines, pistol grips, muzzle brakes and flash suppressors, adjustable - folding - collapsable - and yes, slide fire stocks.

These accessories are all used for sporting, competitive, defensive use, and just plain fun, and can, of course be used offensively also.

God help us if after these weapons and accessories have been banned, that the next weapon of choice for murdering psychopaths, is the long range super-accurate, high power optically enhanced, sniper rifle; capable of covertly assassinating a human being at ranges over a half mile, by anyone with moderate skill. "No one really NEEDS a weapon like that for civilian use!!"

I'm not a tin-foil hat wearing paranoid, but I guess I am the kind of hard ass who says that senseless murders, horrific as they are, don't trump my constitutional rights.

The founders of my nation provided for what they recognized as "common sense gun laws", and they guaranteed a well armed and effective citizen army. They would have sneered at the thought of guns that were good only for safe recreational use. They would have had a stroke at the thought of one man killing a dozen with his rifle, and the rifles of thousands of men being banned because of it.

I don't like long posts, and this has turned into one. I will say that this isn't about bump-stocks, it's not about preventing murders, it's not about common sense, and it is not based on logic. It doesn't take a high ranking member of Mensa to realize this. jd

Just another chip off the stone, what are you going to say when they decide that no individual should manufacture ammunition, and we have to turn in all our reloading gear? They will never be appeased until we are completely defenseless, and we facilitate their goal every time we argue with each other, and by giving in and letting them chip.

Let's face it. The bump stock was a gimmick invented specifically to get around the machine gun law. And nobody needs one because with a little practice, my friends and I were able to shoot just as fast (and fairly accurately) just by "floating the trigger finger" and using a slightly loose grip and stiff arm the support hand.
Gimmick or not, the bump stock isn't even a gun, just an accessory. Just like mags and ammo are viewed by the dems. Perhaps a limit on your first amendment right to say what you want will make you realize what the attacks on the 2A is all about.
