bullets for a 9 tw Savage

I have a 9 tw barrel coming for a Savage. What are best heavy bullets for a 9tw? I had one 9TW that would shoot 75 Amax very well, and one that would not stablize then.

What's the barrel going to chambered in? Different barrel makers make different claims about the accuarcy of their twist rate measurements, but I read off of one manufactors web site that they allow 1/2 in. twist either way. Meaning a 9 twist could be an 8 1/2 twist or a 9 1/2 twist. This was a buttoned rifle barrel company. Many cut rifle barrel companies claim they are much more accurate on their twist rates.

My brother has a BVSS in 9 twist, it seems to really like the 69 Sierra's for longer range stuff, and either Berger 52 FB or Sierra 53 FB for shorter ranges. It shot Hornady 60 vmaxes pretty well but the 75's not so much.

A friend of mine has a savage model 12 223 in 9tw that i borrow last year and took first place with in one of our 100 300 500 yard ground hog match shooting the 75gr Amax. As well as ive seen him shoot it at metal gongs out too 800 yard with great accuracy.

Try a box of Ronnie Cheek's 63 grain flat base custom made bullets. They come in 100, 250, or 334 to a box. You'll be glad you did. I shot them in my Savage .223, model 12 VLP-S, to which I attached a tight twist Krieger barrel. The details are here: http://www.rcheek.com/page2.shtml ordering here: http://www.rcheek.com/page3.shtml Good shooting!

I have a factory 9 twist 223 barrel that was AI'd that will shoot the 75gr Hornady BTHP but not the 75gr Amax it will also shoot the 77 SMK I use N540, Lapua brass and Rem 7 1/2 primers

My 9 twist factory 10 FP Savage 223 REALLY likes 69 gr SMK's with 24.5 grains of H4895 and Wolf SMR primers in Lapua cases.

I mean REALLY LIKES them.

I've been using Hornady 68gr BTHP in my 1-9 savage. I shot them side by side with 69gr SMK and I got better results with the 68's. 23.6gr Acc 2230
