Bullet Sorting Methods

Some of you guys take the fun right out of some of these posts. It should be a learning or sharing experience rather than a brag fest or whining session.

Contact Middleton Tompkins about that. He did it back in 1971. He knows the actual results and full particulars. I only know the general results and basic particulars based on my conversations with him.

One group at about .8 inch was pictured in a Lapua bullets ad in a late 1971 issue of American Rifleman magazine

Bart, are you on bad terms with your old coach that you can't E-mail him and get proof on what your posting about. I sure hope it doesn't have anything to do with you criticizing members of the team.

Federal "snap gage",probably mid '50's vintage?I snagged it from the machine shop. It's the Gdaddy to most of the offerings available to handloaders today. And we have a proprietary balance check that if I explained the process.....it would invariably be shot down as being too simple,"that can't possibly work".Which it seems this thread has become. But not only that, there really needs to be some actualization regarding methodology WRT,metrology.....evidenced by folks buying the latest greatest bullet measure.

I make pretty simple D reamers to cut measuring "tips"....which dbl as hybrid top punches for my cast bullets.Once you understand cosine error, and have the resources to do something about it (making your own test gages)....it's basic engineering. That's why it's important you figure it out for yourself. And Guffy can go effe himself, just sayin.
