Bullet scuff marks

Started loading some 75 gr. V-Max bullets in my 25.06. During the bullet seating I'm getting some scuff marks on one[b side of the bullet. Using Forster Ultra seater. Hope you can see it in the picture.

The bullet is falling over and hitting the case mouth portion inside the seater. Looks like youre very tight on the neck so see if you can get the bullet to stand up in the mouth before you drop the die over it

Well, I believe the cases are properly chamfered. I'm using a Redding Type S Bushing die and the bullet seating is very smooth. I hold the bullet as straight as possible until it enters the bottom of the die. Just went to the reloading room and checked some other loaded rounds. They are 90 gr. Sierra's and they have similar marks. Hadn't noticed before. I have another seater die. I'll have to try and see what I get.,

I didnt say they wasnt chamfered properly- im sure they are. I said with that much neck tension the bullet wont sit on top by itself and the die is having to upright it

Guess we got our wires crossed. When my bullets are being seated the process is smooth as butter and I can push the press handle down with 2 fingers. So, that would lead me to believe neck tension isn't the problem, (I think).

Obviously there is some thing inside your seating die that is scuffing the side of your bullets. If they go in unscuffed and come out scuffed? Has to be catching a sharp edge/burr of some sort.

Do the "scuff" marks go all the way around the bullet and are you compressing the powder? If so the bullet is probably being pushed out due to the small neck tension "I can push the press handle down with 2 fingers"

Thats a possibility...

The scuff mark is only on one side. Not a compressed load. Actually, far from it.

Check the seater stem for a rough edge. Take a look at how the seater stem fits the bullet
I took the die completely apart yesterday and checked it out. Everything looked OK. However, I took some 600 grit paper fitted on a smaller and pointed sized wood dowel and "polished" up the seater. I'll see if that helps any today. What bugs me the most is that I went to the range and shot 2, 3 shot groups... .477 and .388. Truthfully, the best I had shot in a very long time. Then, I noticed the scuff mark.

Took out the stem, (again) and took a look at it. Still looked OK. Then I placed a loaded round and slowly twisted it in the die body...What!! I could feel, ever so slightly a rough spot as I rotated the case. Did it 3 times and until I was convinced the rough spot was there. Took a brass brush and tightly wrapped some steel wool, (0000) chucked it up. Fired up the drill and spun it for a minute or so. Put the die back together, loaded up another round, seated the bullet... 8) 8) ;D ;D. The tightly rolled up 600 grit paper I had pushed into the die evidently was to stiff to conform to the contours. I am a happy camper. Thanks to all that provided ideas.
