bullet out of round

How do i get my bullets seated in the brass so its not out of round ? Tried different dies some are .003 to .007 out of round. I get 5 perfect out of 20 Tried different bullets with same results. am i to picky ?

I would not call you picky.

I have settled on an acceptable,to me) amount of runout which is no more than .003 total loaded runout. The cases must be straight when coming out of the resize die. The neck thickness must be uniform and the neck tension on the bullet should not be more than .003. A full length Redding die with the proper shoulder bump bushing is good as long as you don't have to take necks down more than .006-.007 in one step. More than that can cause runout problems and the only way I know to alleviate that is by sizing down in increments with two or more bushings. Lots of trouble and time consuming. I still use an RCBS std. full length die with an expander for .308 and it is pretty good, but occasionally get up to .004 loaded bullet runout. I have a 6XC and use the Tubb size die with the shoulder bushings and max. loaded runout can also be as much as .004. However, they are seldom over .003. By using the proper amount of lube, and also inside the necks with the RCBS die, most cases come out of the size die with less than .002 runout. Most loaded rounds are .003 or less with both sizer/seater combos. I can't get straight ammo with std. seaters, so I use Redding and Forster comp. seaters. I don't turn necks. Since I full length resize, the chamber clearance combined with the loaded runout can add up or cancel each other out.Tolerance stacking adds up quickly. I used the word "most" a lot. Sometimes you get a case,s) that just do not want to come out straight. They usually have thickness variation the entire length of the case. Neck thickness variation can be an indicator of the entire case.
