Bullet choice

Shooting an all factory savage in 6creed. It likes the hornady 105bthp match and 107smk. At 100 and 200 the hornady shines although both will hold 1/2” at 200. At our rigged up 850 yard range, with no flags, and banging steel I can’t seem to choose which bullet is better. The smk shoots flatter i do know that. 5mils vs 5.5mils for the hornady. Most of the problem is wind I’m certain as it’s always coming and going at varying mph. I do not compete obviously. I know the smk is claimed to be a better overall bullet. I have not did extensive load work up with the smk either. Another question, have you ever had a match boat tail bullet hammer at 100-200 yards but struggle at distance over 600 ? Thanks.

Try "Jamming" Lightly into the Lands ( .010 - .015 ) with, the 107' SMK's as they, "Came ALIVE" for me, in my
6 XC, when Jammed,.. just be sure to Reduce Powder charge about, 1/2 to, a Full Grain to avoid, pressure.
Try Both Bullets at, 200 or, 300 Yards, to see which is the Better Load, for your Rifle, to Be,.. SURE !
Everything, can Look "Good" at, 100 yards.

I will. Thank you for replying. I usually shoot loads in this rifle at 200. The wind was stout Saturday but I was determined to shoot so I chose 100

I have shot a lot of 107 SMK in quite a few 6brx barrels. They do well. If you measure and sort them they do even better. Just strated on my first 6BRA barrel with them. First time out shooting in the mid ones. Second time even better. Had a switching 3 to 9, 9 to 3, or straight on head wind per the flag at 85 yards. Also a consistent 5 to 11 tail wind coming over my back. I shot 12 shots with .4 powder difference thru them. Just held center of a notebook paper reinforcement ring. All 12 shot inside the ring. Preliminary load development looks promising. Good bc with the 107s and looks like another good Kreiger chambered by Attrum an Accurate Shooter sponser.
