Subsonic 308 pills (need advice)

P1ZombieKiller said:
Right now with 8.0 grains of Lil Gun and 200 grain SMK's, my groups at 100 yards are just over 1" (5 shot groups, not 3 shot). Prob about 1.25. Have not measured them, and have only 68 rounds down this tube, so I still have lots to do.

I have P-dog guns and bench guns that shoot in the .1's and .2's, so I am not looking for a tack driver. I'm looking at a nice fun gun to shoot, and if I want to do it with no one knowing.... PERFECT.

I just need to hit a 4"-5" circle at what ever distance I determine. I know I'll be launching them in a rainbow like arc, but that's ok. If lead will double the size of my groups, I may be out, but it the groups can stay somewhere in the 2" range at 100, I should be ok for what I'm doing. I'm just worried about something like that going down my barrel, and what damage I am doing there.

Quit using H110 and switch to Viht N110 issue solved as far as temp and case position sensitivity. N110 takes up more case capacity and I don't have these issues. I'm stacking 5 Shots into ..5-.7" pretty regularly at 100yds - much to my surprise. Rem 700 Action, PT&G Fluted Bolt, Sako extractor, and a Brux 8 twist 16.15" barrel with LC Brass trimmed to 1.355 9.5gr N110 with Hornady 220gr Interlocks.

For Hogs pick an off the shelf bullet 200 + grains and put it in the ear, eye or head, and it'll be a quick drop, you could do it less expensive with a .223 but .300/.221 is fun. Lung, Heart, they'll eventually die, but don't expect much expansion with off the shelf bullets at 1070 FPS or slower they aren't designed to perform at velocities that low. Ice pick in and out. If you want expansion go with someone like Outlaw Bullets, scored jackets and segmented hollow point cores. Warning: They're pricey.

Unless your suppressor can be taken apart to be cleaned, I wouldn't personally put non-jacketed bullets through the can, not worth the hassle or potential additional $200 Tax if things go wrong.

Good idea. I bought an SWR Omega 30. I'll check into that tomorrow.

Most can manufacturers are just concerned about stabilizing the bullet, so be sure to state you have 1-7" twist. And of course test w/o the can first (50y and no keyholing should be enough).

If I had to take a guess why Lapua subsonics are banned by some can manufacturers, I'd say it's b/c Lapua subsonic 200gr bullet has more weight in front and is claimed to stabilize in slower twists than normal 200gr bullets and this worries the can manufacturers. I haven't tested them b/c 200gr is kind of on the light side, but some knowledgeable people say they actually do stabilize on slower twists.

I called the guy that is selling me the can, and he recommends NOT shooting lead through this. He stopped short of saying anything about the warranty, but I got the indication that it is not worth the chance.

That is a bummer. I was encouraged by reading their site, and learning that one of their cans can be disassembled for cleaning.

Can your can be disassembled?

well... I found EXACTLY what I was wanting. A bullet designed for hunting with subsonic speeds.

They are a little pricey, but I figure I can shoot paper with the SMK's and use the Outlaws to do the lethal shots.
