Bulk 9mm coated bullet pulling.

My buddy got a 50 cal can that's nearly full of sketchy 147 gr blue bullets reloads. I'm talking rounds with no primers mixed in the batch.

Can you use a collet die that won't mangle the coated bullets? There's so much ammo there I'll have to chip away at it no matter what, but bullet pulling hammer would make this a 10 year project.

Thanks, cousin! I'd not heard of this. Well worth the chance with this massive pile of really shady components I've go in front of me.

Kinetic puller
This model has never broken on me
Guys that break these are Ham Fisted and try to get it done with 1 Smack
It takes repeated medium taps sometimes and then it wont break your tool

Bought my first Quinetics puller in late 70s and was careful not to be too aggressive with it. Performed admirably for years, then split at the rear of the chuck side at the hammer/handle junction. Wrote them a letter (pre internet), and they replied in kind to ship it to them. 2 weeks later, a new one was provided and I’m still using it. It’s tired now, but hanging in there. I bought an RCBS to supplement the tasks.
Edit:
I have loaded about 2K Powder coated bullets and have had to pull perhaps half a dozen. I will say that the Blue Bullets I’m loading now are fairly easy to remove with a few medium taps, so your looming task may not be as arduous as you expect.

I still see the Quinetics on Ebay for about $30

I have a bullet pulling hammer, but it's sub-optimal for 4000 or so rounds. I may never finish this batch of crappy pull downs in my lifetime. BUT... they were free. The pile driver is inbound.

I'd buy one of those Pile Drivers from FA.

I bought one. Works pretty well (it's a lot faster then a hammer type puller), but you really need to get into a rhythm with it to be efficient. I will say this: upon receipt, unscrew the hardware that holds the knob onto the cartridge insert, and loctite it; if you don't, the little nut will disappear and the knob will fall off. It can be easily replaced with 4-40 hardware; FA will end up sending a complete new insert (after a few weeks.)

FYI
Amazon has the Pile driver bullet puller on sale for $44.39
That hurt my eyes just watching UR setup and use this machine!.... he is like 30 years old by the time he gets the pile he had done he will be 72 years old!....Wayyyyyyyy to slow for this old cowboy!

My buddy ordered on from Amazon. If there's 5000 bad rounds there, I can do 100 per week and wrap up this mess in a year!!

I just watched the UR video. The upside in my case is that I'm dealing with 147 gr 9mm with no crimp. I should get pulls in one pass.

And I'm hooking up the hose thing to dump powder and bullet together. The thing makes a racket for sure. This is going to be interesting.

Mark,
I'm one to talk as I love shiny new tools but if they have no crimp I cant imagine that a RCBS or Hornady bullet puller or plier style pullers would be three times faster at a minimum than the FA but i have been wrong many times before. Please let us know how it does once you get the hang of it.

Will do. If they were jacketed bullets instead of coated Blue Bullets, I'd adopt a more aggressive puller.. collet or plier style.

But for 50 bucks or so, I'll give the Pile Driver a try. I bet I break the unit on this run if I stick with it. There's so much ammo to pull.

Caveat: Have not watched the video on the PileDriver. But I don't recall any setup other than mounting the thing. It needs to be mounted (preferably) to a wall, but I found that mounting to a piece of lumber and clamping that in a workshop clamping table (like a Workmate) works adequately. Replacing the little cup thing that catches the powder and bullet with a vinyl tube and receptacle speeds things up quite a bit.

Also interested in hearing about the pile driver. I set my alert on the thread for the review :D
