I am going to build my first 6ppc this year, since everything takes forever then I will need to decide on parts in the next few days.. approx 6 months waiting for a barrel, 3 months for the stock, 3 months for the action and a few weeks for the trigger...

I am going for Stiller Action, probably the Viper but other suggestions are appreaciated but still only from Stiller.

barrel must be stainless steel, due to weather conditions in Iceland. maker, contour and twist unknown..

stock.. probably McMillan Edge, but as befor suggestion appreaciated...

trigger.. Jewel.. is there anything else worth looking at ?

already on the waiting list for the Seb Neo so that's covered...

The Stiller Viper may be a bit of a wait, as they only make production runs a few times a year. If I was to chose from Stillers list of actions my 1st choice would be a d-back, and It would have to be a drop port.

Most people in this area shoot 1in 14 twist barrels, but I been told that in the colder weather some shooters go to a 1 in 13.5 twist. Most BR guns to make 10.5 weight have barrels that are finished out at around 5 lbs.

I personaly am not a big fan of the McMillan Edge, I think there is a lot better stocks out there. My first choice is a Tom Meridith http://www.tmss.net/stockwork/tmbrstock.html My second choice would be a kelbly club.
jewel triggers are nice, and what most BR shooters use.

the d'back is an option, the drop port is something I'd like to try, makes things much easier if it works.
I am looking for right bolt, left port action with a drop port, the barrel will probably be a Krieger HV 13.5 twist, I have one on my 6BR and it just never misses it's targets :)

the stock.. th TMBR stock looks nice, I am looking for some stock that is good for a custom paintjob, and rides the bag like a boss.

Dansig, who are you going to use to build the rifle a US gunsmith or are you going to import all the part seperatly?
If a US gunsmith talk to them about which action, stock and barrel to use, you might find they have a barrel in stock as a lot of gunsmiths bulk buy barrels.
My personal preference is a BAT action either a B or a DS, I have a Kelbly Klub and find it an excellent stock. As I already had the action I had Kelblys paint and bed it prior to sending it to me, my Panda action fitted in like a glove. Love the paint job and the finish Kelblys achieved. The only problem is I had them paint it with a metalflake paint and the stock is on the heavy side, but I can make 10 1/2lb with a 4lb 12oz barrel and this is using a Leupold 45X Competition scope or a March 40X.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.......Ian

I will be using a local smith, his guns win every competition in th country so I don't think I'll find any better ;)

I just found out that the smith already has the McMillan Edge LV stock so now I just need to decide on action, a local gunstore will get a shipment from Krieger in june so I might get a barrel from that shipment and I just got my Nightforce NSX 12-42x56 winth CH3 reticle.

the reason I am thinking about the Stiller actions is that a local store can get them in 10 days, just want to chose the right one.

I am building a gun that's under 13.5 pounds.

You can't go wrong with a Stiller drop port. My Grandson's Diamondback drop port is wonderful and very smooth. You might want to be able to add a little weight to the rear of your Edge. Mine was great after being able to add a little weight to the butt. Nothing wrong with a Krieger. I would prefer a March scope.

I would prefer a March scope, but for the price difference of a new march 8-80x and my NSX I can build a new 6ppc ;)

I'd rather have a new 6ppc with NSX than a March scope with nothing underneath ;)

Just remember if you build a 10.5lb. rifle, it is very very difficult to make weight with the NSX. I did it one time to prove it could be done. I had to do a lot of carving on the barrel to make weight. I did have an Edge stock on that rifle.

there are very few benchrest shooters in Iceland so we compete in LV -13.5 pounds and HV +13.5 pounds, we do not have a 10.5 pound category so that's not a problem.
I am just under 13.5 pounds with the Edge, NSX, HV Krieger and my Howa 1500 action.

I would like to consider group shooting with PPC, so as I understand you must be 10.5 or under unlike score shooting you can have HV at 13.5 is this correct?

in Iceland we do not compete in Light Varmint class 10.5 pounds, most benchrest shooters build for Heavy Varmint class up to 13.5 pounds, then we have Heavy benchrest class for everything over 13.5 pounds.
