Which 2 stage trigger?

Went through this years ago. Tubbs is the closest to having the adjustability to a 5018 trigger if you want a true 2 stage. A LOT of "2 stage" triggers are really just a single stage with slop and a spring for the "first stage". Depending on the stock/chassis you will need to fit it, it's large and not crazy about the trigger shoe but it's easy enough to fabricate one to suit or buy one that fits. That is not the stock shoe in the pictures.

Yes it has. On the up side, it's been over 25 years since I ran an Anschutz trigger though, so maybe I'm embellishing them to myself...

This rifle will likely be the foundation of any rifle that I use going forward, so I do want a trigger that's adjustable. It will have a Remage style barrel and it will likely start off with a 20 Tac barrel for prairie dogs. If I ever find myself wanting to hit something with more authority at distance whether it be for targets or fur, I'm fine with swapping barrels out and even getting a lighter stock/chassis as the need arises.

In all reality, I will likely end up with a TriggerTech Diamond. My main thing on a 2 stage trigger is the length of the 2nd stage (short) and overtravel (non-existent), and I haven't found anyone who could say that any of the other triggers on the market are perceivably better. I'd love to find a Tubb that I could compare side to side, but I've not found anyone in my area that has one.
I'm a trigger junkie. Currently using a couple of Green TTs for F-class but used an Anschutz with a Briley hanger on my LR sling gun (R700 switch barrel) back in the day. Never found anything better. Not sure if Briley still makes these hangars but I had a special trigger guard fitted as the standard one would not work.......

I love 2-stage triggers - even on hunting rifles. On a hunting rifle you can set it up that you can pull right through both stages on a snap shot, and if you need to be more precise, you can slow down, pull to the wall and have a light trigger.

All of my match rifles wear 2-stage triggers (NRA/CMP Across the Course).
My Service rifle uses a Geissele National Match to around 4.75lb total.

My bolt guns started years ago with Timney Calvin Elite two stage triggers - and they were good, but the one I used the most felt, different, spongey after about 4000rds (and probably double that in dry fires). I was getting better as a shooter, but my trigger felt worse. Around that time I bought a used Eliseo chassis with a Defiance Mutant action and an older CG Xtreme trigger. Once I got the trigger adjusted it was fantastic!!!

The gun with the Timney went down the road and I picked up an American Rifle Company Archimedes and bought a used Tubb T7T to try since I couldn't find a CG Trigger at the time. I absolutely love the T7T. I have 4 of them on different rifles. It was easy to get them set up all the same and it makes it pretty easy to switch between rifles. I actually set up several barreled acitons with the same action, same trigger, same mounts and scopes and I swap them into whatever stock/chassis I feel like shooting at the time.

I recently picked up an old JAE-700 chassis and the machine work for the trigger will not allow the Tubb trigger to be used. I bought a new model CG Xtreme and found out that it would not work consistently with my ARC Archimedes. (It worked fine with two other Rem 700 short actions that I tried - just not that ARC). Based on the customer service I've had with Tom at CG - there is no doubt that it would work, but in the mean time I bought an older model CG22 used and it works fine with that ARC Archimedes action.

So, all that to say - Tubb is great, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the CG Xtreme triggers.

I haven't tried the Trigger Tech two stage nor the Bix and Andy 2-stage.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies! I'm not really in a position to be able to buy 3 or 4 different triggers to find out which one I like the best, so everyone's input/feed back is helpful. If they were AR triggers, I could always drop the "others" into lowers that currently have cheap PSA polished triggers in them. This is the only SA Rem700 format rifle I plan on having so I really would like to make a good decision the first time around :)

I have several CG Xtreme triggers, one on a 40X and two on RPA Quadlites. Love all three as they will adjust down to very light WOP. I did purchase a Trigger Tech Diamond for a Barnard “S” action. So far it is OK, but I would of gotten another CG if I could have.

I don't think I've heard of CG Xtreme triggers before. Do they have a website? I see one for Extreme Rifles when I google it, but not sure if that's the same company or not.

Xtreme has an odd website....

This is the trigger I use:

I have big hands and long fingers, so I like adjustable trigger shoes to be able to get the trigger further out away from my palm/grip.

As a side note - I had forgotten this, but Xtreme makes the precision triggers for Accuracy International rifles as well.
Don't be afraid to buy the wrong trigger. If you buy one and can't stand it for some reason sell it used. Someone on here will buy it. Then you recoup most of your investment - think of it as renting to find out if you like it or not. In fact, most of my triggers are second hand, haha.

Good luck,
Ross

Several have mentioned this in passing, I would contact the manufacturer of the chassis u are going to use n see what triggers will fit!
The housings on these various triggers have significantly different dimensions. On wooden stocks it is just a matter of removing some wood to install them. On an aluminum chassis, it may be a Horse of a different color.
U may find that the trigger u purchase will not fit the chassis u bought without some machine work, if at all!

Totally agree. My plan is to buy the trigger first, and then either find a chassis that will fit it, or make the plans necessary to modify one to fit. I have access and experience with a number of different knee mills, but that doesn't mean that a given chassis can be made to fit.

Your best way to contact Mike is direct he still makes Triggers. His 2 stage is a True 4 lever .
