build design for a target stand?

The politician's signs just before elections are made of coroplast. After the election they are fair game as far as I'm concerned.

About a month ago my neighbor put garage sale info on the back of a Obama for President sign and put it up at the intersection across the street. I guess someone needed a target backer because it didn't last long, lol

Make them out of 2x2 lumber put a few metal spikes in the Legs to stick it into the ground ad ametal cross bar low on the 2x2 for a kicker to set the frame in the ground. Coroplast is a plastic material that's used for signs It comes in 4X8 sheets and is inexpensive it makes a light weight backer board Its looks like corrigated cardboard but made of plastic. usually 1/4 inch thick.
Common colors are red white yellow etc

I like 1 inch pvc for framing; it's cheap and if something gets hit its cheap and easy to replace, and light to carry. I do not glue the pieces together, just compression fit. I make mine so the target area is 2'x4'. For target material I can use either cardboard or I like 1/4" styrofoam siding backer...also really cheap. If its windy, I can anchor it to the ground by putting something heavy over the "T" feet I make or by driving some kind of rod material into the ground and allowing it to stick about 2' out to slide the pvc over. I use those ACCO office clips to hold onto the target material and fasten them to the pvc with zip ties....quick and easy.

Instead of plywood I use 1 1/2 in blue styraform. It almost self heals the bullet holes instead of splintering like plywood. I use the barbed chackboard nails to hold the targets. If its windy push the nails thru plastic bottle caps first.

I didnt expect this much feedback! Thanks fellers

Since we went to this much effort to post all these designs (trade secrets) we expect you to try each one of them and give us a detailed report. Lol

Ck you local minit mart for the
plastic corrugated sign material.
The soft drink/beer and cigarette
vendors change them sometimes
weekly. Ask the clerks to save them
for you. They accumulate quickly. LDS

What is coroplast?
plastic cardboard...it's what most cheap temporarty signs are made of...and also most wind flags are made of it. ;)
The trade name is White Cap corrugated plastic cardboard. Best backer I have found. Water proof also. Later! Frank
