Buds Gun Shop not making any sense...

I've had good luck with Buds.

I don't know for sure but Buds likely prices its items the same way everyone else does, cost plus a standard markup. So I'd guess their cost went up. They may have had one at one cost, sold it, and the replacement came at a different cost.

I've had good luck with Buds as well. Their prices can be different on the same item just by logging out and logging back in. I've found lower prices with no CC fees elsewhere. Their Remington 700 action prices seem to change daily if not hourly. It pays to shop around.

Buds pricing basically works like this;
They will have a distributor source for a gun advertised, they may have 2,3 or more sources for a particular gun. Their computer updates every 40 seconds with their distributors price & availability, or so it was explained to me.
They obviously use the dist. with the lowest price. When that dist. runs out of inventory, the computer picks up a gun from the inventory of the next lowest dist. & adjust pricing accordingly.

Dist. A has gun for X price, Bud's margin is added & it's advertised on their site.

Dist. A runs out, computer goes to dist. B. B's price is Y. Buds margin is added to Y & it's advertised.

As has been said, supply & demand, but Buds isn't actually setting the price.

Edited to say I'm not affiliated w/Buds. I'm just another customer that complained after I ordered a gun & their price went down a day later. An employee that I happened to know took the time to explain it to me, &.... I think I understood.

There does appear to be a pricing structure based according to where you are located, how often you visit a website, how many times you look at a particular item. It's apparently all driven by computer software built into your browser and websites. My son and I have sat at the table and searched for a particular item on our separate laptops, only to find two very different prices from the exact same supplier, at the exact same time. Hmmmm...

I don't pretend to know the secret of how to manipulate the buying experience, but I do know it exists and so I shop repeatedly for the same item, especially if it's expensive. And if I find it at a lower cost elsewhere and then go back to the first website, chances are the price will be lower. Built in price matching?

I have had good deals and a few bad deals with Bud's. The final straw was a "new" S&W 44 mag Hunter revolver that was clearly shot,... a lot! Arrived dirty and with a damaged barrel crown so I'm guessing it was used in the shooting range as a demo?
