Budget 6mm bullet

I'm correctly using 105 hybrids for my 6br, however, I can no longer afford to shoot that particular bullet any longer. I'm shooting to 600 yards and currently trying the 105 match hornady bullets. Any other suggestions that might come to mind? I was also thinking of possibly trying the 70gr Speer tnt bullets. How would they act at 600yrds? Thanks.

80 gr SMK? 95 gr SMK? On sale they’re decently priced. I’m not sure they would perform at 600 but might be worth testing.

Local matches can be surprising. Often attended by top shooters as a training before big matches. I woulg go with 95gr Vlds jammed into the lands. Easily pushed at 2850 in my 6br.

Sierra 100 gr Tipped Game Kings work pretty darn good as well as the 85 gr sierra 1530s. Both in an 8 twist bbl.

Your comment joins mine and everyone that I know that *used* to shoot Berger bullets. They are no longer in my assortment. I've found other bullets that shoot just as well and at a fraction of the cost of Berger's. If I were well off and going for world records then i'd still be using them but to enjoy the shooting sports and as a hobby, money is better spent elsewhere. Keep an eye on retailers who sell "seconds". I have been able to tripple my supply on 6mm bullets of various makes and weights for the money and they all shoot really well!

Here are a couple links. I just bought 1500 of the TNTs and 500 of the Hornady 105s. I do not have my rifle built yet, so I have no first hand experience. But last week, I was doing the same investigation as you. Came to the conclusion that the 70TNTs should work fine for my purposes. I'm going to be shooting them at 300 yards mostly.

Does anyone have any experience with shooting 6br 70gr Speer TNTs with .104 Freebore?

yes, yes, I know people will pipe in and say "shoot a bullet better matched with your freebore" Regardless, I wonder if anyone has real life experience with this combination and if it was bad/good/decent? What did you observe?

Cheap 6BR bullet?? - Like how the 30BR has the 125gr Speer TNTs

Wondering if there is a cheap, go-to standard 6BR bullet that people are using? Similar to how people have had luck in the 30BR with the speer 125gr TNT. I'm not competing, I'm just going to be learning mid distance shooting while prone at 300yds. Does a bullet like this exist? I found some...

6br Freebore

I know most reamers are 0.094-0.104" but I'm putting together a 6BR that will mostly shoots 70tnts, some 105s and less occasionally 55gr NBTs. Would a 0.060" freebore be acceptable for this? Preferred Barrel Blanks said they can get me any freebore I like so I'd prefer to get this thing set up...

Budget/practice loads for 6BR

Curious if anyone has a cheap budget load for 1:8 barrel they use for practice. As much as I shoot for highpower, the Berger 105s get pricey quick. I don’t think anything smaller than a 70 will work, plus feeding issues from the magazine.

If your thinking of using the 70 gr Speer you may like to give the 72 gr Barnes Varmintor a try. Cheap bullet that shoots great in my PPC or BR when I want to plinker or practice.

The 80 and 85 grain Sierra's Varmints were, the most Accurate, CHEAP, 6mm Bullets that, I've found.
For Distance the 107 gr. SMK's ARE, "King" for me,.. at only, $40 a Box.
I've read on HERE that, "Accuracy",.. doesn't come,.."Cheaply" !
IF, I were a serious, "Competitor" it would Be,.. Berger's or, Custom made Bullets for, SURE

6BR 13.5 Twist Initial Results (LT32 70 TNT and 55 Varm Tuning Grids)

So, here are my initial load tests. My 40x with my brand new Kreiger 13.5 twist with a zero freebore 6Br chamber. Starting from scratch with no preconceived notions or copying anyone else's loads. LT 32 powder. 70 Speer TNT moly. 205 match primers. 20 thou in from touching is the top row...

Don't let anybody tell you that the Speer TNT bullets won't shoot. That's simply not true. The 70 TNT shot nearly as well as several different custom match bullets.

The Nosler 105's can be had for far less in cost than the Bergers. I once bought a bunch to plink with as got them on sale real cheap. I was surprised at how accurate they are for the money. Those Barnes don't shoot too bad either.
