Bucket List - Africa ✅

I just got back from South Africa last week, a place that I’ve wanted to go all of my life. I had a great hunt and met some great people. All of the SA folks that I met were extremely friendly and welcoming. Hunted some beautiful country with a great family run outfit and saw an abundance of varied game. Maybe not for everyone but a lot of bang for your buck. I can see how Africa can get into your blood :D
30-06, H4350, 168 TTSX @ 2860 fps for most of the game along with a couple using my 257 WBY & 101 LRX @ 3580 fps.
A few pics -

Been to RSA the last two years in a row for the SABU nationals and this year for the worlds. Loved it. Did not hunt, though I did have the opportunity. Plan to do so on my next trip, which will not be soon enough. Great place to visit. the only negative is the pick pockets at the airport and you simply do not want to go wandering around any of the big cities. Outside of there, had zero issues.

Nicely done, those are some quality animals!

My wife and I went with one daughter in 2017. We had a great time, hunted three properties that totaled 540,000 acres. Saw a lot of game, great guides, very nice facilities and the table fare was delicious. We’ve been wanting to go back, if the world isn’t upside down after this election we hope to return in 2025.

I can see why so many guys return multiple times.

Edit; the stock on that wood rifle is gorgeous!

Thanks all
I can’t say enough good about the experience.
The outfit that I hunted with, Bosveld Jacobs Safaris, was first class from the meals to the vast amount of ground to hunt.
My only complaint isn’t much of a complaint but the long flight and airport red tape is the only drawback.

That flight is a killer, I agree!

Riann does a great job! He donates to our SCI chapter each year! All great trophies! My wife and I just got back a month ago. I haven't had time to post pics. Congratulations!

You’re right Riann and his wife are wonderful people and their staff was top notch!

My first trip to Africa was about bassackwards. I went to Zimbabwe for Cape Buffalo. I never thought I would have the $$$$$ for a second safari, so I got the Buff I had been dreaming about since 1959 when I was going on ten years old.
I have been blessed by God and my lovely wife to return twice, both times to RSA like this gentleman. If my back gets better, I hope to return to RSA for a big Eland and Impala. Maybe a Hyena if it crosses my path. My gun room walls are almost full, and Mamma put her foot down the day she came home from work and that Cape Buffalo head and shoulder mount was about eye to eye level in our living room..

Great trophies for sure. Moshe-moshe!

Beautiful animals, that Koedoe has very symmetrical horns!
The Kudu was also some of the best eating, Delicious!
Incidentally, all game was eaten either by us hunters and staff in camp, donated to the local schools or native folks. Things that wouldn't be eaten here in the states were enjoyed there; nothing went to waste.
We had wild game every day - dinners, lunches, even breakfast sausage in the mornings.

Looks top notch. If I sold all my MGs I might have enough to go!
You'd be amazed at how much value there is built into these trips. We often sell 7-10 day, hunter/non-hunter trips, all inclusive, at our SCI events for $750-1500. These trips often include a few plains game species and one higher priced animal such as a kudu or gemsbok. Obviously the outfitter hopes you shoot a few more animals to help out, but you're usually not required to. Airfare is the biggest upfront cost. I have 3 more trips to use in the next year or two: Sable and Crocodile trip for $2200, Springbok Slam for $800 and Giraffe for $750. Watch onlinehuntingauctions.com for auctions.

Great trophies, and pictures. My PH offered me an old Giraffe, their skin darkens with age. I said okay, but how do I get a full body mount that is 18 feet tall in a 15 foot ceilinged room?
These days a plains game hunt in RSA is cheaper than a guided non-resident Elk/Mule Deer ten day hunt in most of the western states.
The biggest difference between hunting Africa and heroin? They have treatment programs for heroin addicts...

Yeah, but if you are in Zimbabwe and get your Buff, you (Me) might get offered a cull hunt for Elephant (tuskless cows or bull have no market value) and you spend your last day in camp with a wildcat 550 Gibbs. Five shots, three dead cows.

I just want one more trip...
