Sorry, but I just don't buy into the Benchresters are all lemmings thing. Competitive Benchrest has evolved into hyper specialized equipment. Looking at the TOP smiths listed in winning match reports of the big tournaments, you will find virtually all of them are also top competitors- or were competitors in the past who have garnered many HOF points. In a game where a few ten thousandths of an inch separated first place to second in a 2 gun agg at the World Series of SR BR -the FISS Supershoot, you don't want to leave anything on the table if you want to be serious about winning.Consider purchasing a well made used gun. If you decide you don't like the short range game, you aren't out as much money. Don't get too caught-up on brand names, nor "big name" gunsmiths. Though you did not include the Marsh action in your list, don't overlook it! It is "state of the art", designed specifically for the short range game. Much of "use this one over that one" is a monkey see, monkey do thing.
